It’s very obvious Matt didn’t love Caitlyn, he loved the idea of someone who couldn’t reject him. She was the only person who looked at him after his face was ruined and didn’t flinch, so he latched onto her like she was the last piece of his old life, but the second she stayed loyal to her fiancé, he decided the problem wasn’t him and it was John. So he unalive him, put on his face, and walked into her life expecting her to just… accept it. That’s not love, that’s someone so desperate to be chosen that he removed every option for her to say no, for me it’s like an obsession The ending makes it even clearer, when she finally rejects him for real, he doesn’t process it. He just builds a clay version of her that does want him and plays house with it. At that point he’s not chasing Caitlyn anymore. He’s chasing a version of her that never leaves, never questions him and never makes him feel like the monster he’s become #Clayface

Clayface (2026) stands out by focusing on the psychological collapse behind the powers. A bleak but interesting take on identity, obsession, and the cost of refusing to let go.

Well….not really, Matt’s transformation is driven more by the nanites reacting to his unstable emotions, his growing obsession,and the kill switch being activated than by guilt. He doesn’t show much genuine remorse for the killings He keeps justifying or ignoring them as long as they serve what he wants (revenge and Caitlyn). By the time he fully becomes Clayface, it’s more about him losing control and refusing to accept rejection than about feeling guilty. #Clayface
