Mr. Isa travelled to Casablanca on 20 July 2026 to attend a regional conference on freedom of religion or belief, the International Religious Freedom Summit. Upon arrival, he was stopped at immigration, taken for secondary screening, and detained overnight for approximately 15 hours with little explanation. He was subsequently deported to Germany and prevented from attending the conference.
