⚠️ If we send all of the students with IEPs to a resource room, we force the special education teacher into an impossible game of whack-a-mole. #LeadInclusion #edchat

Raise your hand if you need a little R&R.
And no, I don’t mean rest and relaxation...I mean rest and RECONNECTION, my friends! If you are looking for some ways to relax and reconnect on your summer vaycay, I have a few ideas that may just float your boat. Take a look!

Below is an optional PD I put together for the summer based on admin focus for SY22-23. I've linked the document--I just can't give you PD credit 😉. I'm also biased, because I think most of "Authentic Assessment" comes from @tylerrabin docs.google.com/document/d/1…

ALT First page of optional PD curated from admin focus for SY22/23. Topics include Backwards Design, Authentic Assessment and Relationship Building. Each section includes a description of the topic, an option for reading, watching, listening, explaining and trying it. The document is linked in the tweet.

ALT The 2nd page of optional PD curated from admin focus for SY22/23. Topics include Classroom Management, Trauma-Informed Classrooms, and Starting Off the Year. Each section includes a description of the topic, an option for reading, watching, listening, explaining and trying it. The document is linked in the tweet.

Now this is leaving school in style! Vancouver's Lord Nelson Elementary School has installed a pair of slides from the second floor doors. This was one of the suggestions from students the architects incorporated. The school was built in 2019.

A massive mindset shift in my practice was when I stopped seeing myself as the sole responsible designer of learning & architect of assessment & I began to ask my students to engage in these processes.
I haven’t looked back.

Dear school administrators:
I see you.
I feel your stress.
I’m sorry that you’ve been placed in this situation, and that the pressure has not let up for the past two years.
You deserve the same love and care that you give to your staff and students.

Don’t forget that joy is a choice, sweet ones.
We won’t be able to fix everything, but it is your choice to dwell on the bad things or focus your energy on celebrating the good things.
Be kind, to yourself first, and those around you and I promise we’ll change the world.

Indeed! Thank you.

Great mantra mindset shared by @S_Nouman_Ashraf at todays @bcpvpa #connectingleaders conference:
Embrace Discomfort
Reoognize your role in the moment
Step up in ways that feel authentic

Most of what is true of the kids in the school… is also true of the adults. We all feel insecure at times. We all want to be noticed. We all hope to be successful. We all have been hurt by the unkind words of others. We all work harder when friends encourage us.

June is both #NationalIndigenousHistoryMonth and #PrideMonth! This month and every month, we celebrate LGBTQIA2+ community members across Canada and around the world. In honour of these two celebrations we're sharing Joe David's Memorial Rainbow Drum. bit.ly/3g0flOf
