There’s nothing like the @NYCMarathon 🏃🏽‍♀️🏃‍♂️. It’s an all-day feel-good celebration that runs through all 5 boroughs. It’s a day filled with music, nonstop cheering and energy that only New Yorkers know how to bring.

Wishing everyone a fun-filled and safe Halloween 🎃. This year, I’m recognizing the city's incredible street doctors, the EMTs 🚑 and paramedics who work around the clock to save lives and keep New Yorkers safe!

We're going back to basics, to make sure city pension plans are on the right track. 📚 Our office's Bureau of Asset Management (BAM) hosted trustees of the five NYC Retirement Systems to discuss how we are taking care of current and future retirees. From the impact of artificial intelligence, to investments in housing and climate solutions, we are making sure to set up city workers for success in their golden years! 💰

Enrollment at @NYCSchools has been dropping for years, but in our latest report, “Tracking the K-12 Student Population in NYC,” we can see how steep that decline is and which demographics and districts are being affected most. 📉New York City’s K–12 public school enrollment has plunged 19% since 2013–14, shedding 187,000 students. A shift to charter schools, private schools and home schooling doesn’t explain the loss.

The report points to a deeper challenge: families appear to be leaving the city as their children grow older, with the steepest enrollment decline happening between 5th and 6th grade when children transition to middle school. For the big picture: comptroller.nyc.gov/reports/…

Local business owners deserve a streamlined path to outdoor dining permits. 🍔 Our office found the approval process often takes more than 19 months, and entire seasons of valuable business are being left on the table. 🍴 Read the full report: buff.ly/YZ7urbu

Real New Yorkers help their neighbors in tough times, so it's inspiring to see organizations like the @MetCouncil expand to be able to better serve communities across the city. 🙌 With its new 22,000-square-foot warehouse, the Met Council can provide food for hundreds of thousands of people in need. It was a pleasure to join this celebration of service!

When 1237 Myrtle Holding and Kai Management failed to pay the required prevailing wages and benefits to 14 workers, it was time to step in. 💵 Those employees were short-changed about $419,000 over the course of three years, including one service worker who was owed $200,000. Building workers make sure New Yorkers have a safe place to live, and they deserve a fair wage. 🏢

Restaurant owners need faster outdoor dining approvals to cook up something great for our city streets. 🍝 An investigation from our office found the permit process often takes 19 months or more. Since outdoor dining is busiest in warmer months, these delays can mean missing one or even two years of peak seasons. 🗣️ We're calling on @NYC_DOT to stop leaving applicants on the back burner and address systemic issues to speed up the process.

🚨Breaking news: @AnthropicAI has filed its IPO despite making no attempts to address concerns about ‘catastrophic or existential risks to humanity’ caused by AI. Read Comptroller Levine’s full statement.

Giving birth should be about bringing new life into the world, not about death. That was the focus of our conversation at the Maternal Health Roundtable, hosted by my office on Thursday. 🏥 By centering the voices of women and local experts, we can find solutions to make sure our newest New Yorkers have happy and healthy parents to take care of them.

When every second counts, New Yorkers are waiting longer for emergency medical care. 🚨 As medical emergencies increase, low pay and high turnover among @FDNY EMTs and paramedics are putting additional strain on NYC’s EMS system, contributing to longer response times. 🚑 Our latest report calls for competitive pay for these essential first responders and a comprehensive plan to reduce response times and ensure New Yorkers get the care they need, when they need it most. AI has great potential to transform NYC's economy, create opportunities and drive innovation. We need to make sure our city is ready to seize those opportunities while understanding and addressing the risks that come with adopting this revolutionary technology. We're sounding the alarm about early impact of AI on the local job market, particularly among young people and recent college graduates. It's critical that we prepare our workforce for this transformation and develop a plan to ensure all New Yorkers can benefit from the opportunities ahead. Thanks to @Politico and Joe Anuta for hosting this conversation.

An estimated 16,000 Holocaust survivors live in New York City today, many face poverty, social isolation, declining health and lasting trauma. Comptroller Levine joined NYS Assemblywoman @Nily Rozic and Shelly Rood Wernick of @JFederations the @SelfhelpNY "A Legacy of Caring” panel to discuss the importance of ensuring survivors have the resources they need and supporting organizations that provide critical services.

Lower speeds save lives. That’s why we are urging @NYC_DOT to expand Sammy’s Law across all 17 community districts that passed resolutions in support and in areas with the highest crash rates. Sammy’s Law would lower speed limits from 25 mph to 20 mph on most local streets. Read the letter: buff.ly/zvILW1x

Today's street co-naming ceremony for Jewish Community Relations Council of NY Way weaves this organization's legacy into the physical fabric of New York City. For over half a century, JCRC has been a leader in ensuring Jews have an unmistakably permanent place in our communities. Now, they have a permanent place at the corner of East 47th Street and Second Avenue in Manhattan. Proud to be part of this special moment honoring an organization that has done so much to strengthen New York City.
