There are days when I miss being an editor and I particularly loved writing headlines. Whoever did this, I hope they took the rest of the day off.

For the first time, Sean Penn talks about his role in helping a Hasidic businessman from Brooklyn escape from one of Bolivia’s most dangerous prisons.
Sean Penn always knew that rescuing Jacob Ostreicher from his years of Bolivian imprisonment would be difficult. Ostreicher, a then-52-year-old Hasidic businessman who had moved to the country from Brooklyn to manage a rice farm, got stuck there for two and a half years after he was accused of money laundering and criminal organization. His detainment in one of Bolivia’s most brutal prisons had attracted international attention, but it seemed like he would never get back to the States. Until suddenly, in December 2013, he returned.
The Bolivian justice minister claimed Ostreicher had slipped away while out of prison on house arrest. A State Department spokesperson would only confirm to news organizations that Ostreicher was in the United States.
What really happened remained a mystery, though there were some cryptic clues: New Jersey representative Chris Smith, who had testified in Congress to advocate for Ostreicher’s freedom, released a statement thanking “Sean Penn for his tireless work to free Jacob.”
As it turned out, that tireless work was much more literal than anything previously reported. Over the span of a year, during which he starred in ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,’ Penn had been making plans to smuggle Ostreicher out of Bolivia by land, by air, or, if necessary, through the heating vents of a hospital.

When Ben Terris arrived at the Oval Office in December to talk to Donald Trump about his health, the president was standing next to a couple of men clutching pieces of paper labeled TALKING POINTS.
“These are two doctors,” Trump told Terris. “And by the way, I don’t know them, they’re not my best friends. They’re respected doctors that practice out of Walter Reed. And they happen to be taking care of me for anything — but I don’t need any taking care of because I’m in perfect health. I do purposely every year or less a physical, because I think the American people should know that the president is healthy so you don’t get a guy like the last one, who was the worst thing that ever happened to older people. Because I know people in their 90s that are 100 percent. Gary Player is 90 years old. He shot 70 with me the other day.”
Trump gestured at everyone present to follow him into the room. “Let’s sit for a couple of minutes,” he said. “I hate to waste a lot of time on this, but if you’re going to write a bad story about my health, I’m going to sue the ass off of ‘New York’ Magazine. There will be a time when you can write that story, maybe in two years, three years, five years — five years, no one is going to care, I guess. Go ahead and sit down.”
