I cannot stress this enough: you can’t dismiss ~70-80 million Trump voters as a monolith of rubes, idiots, racists, misogynists, homophobes, and fascists.

The core basis for a reckless Ontario Conservative policy was a lie. @ctv_jon
The Ford Conservative government lied to Ontario about the reasons for closing safe consumption sites and now CTV and @ctv_jon shows this data for Toronto. As a doctor I am forbade from lying but the Ford government is getting away with it. @ctv_jon

Getting police support is complicated. Everyday, officers continue to be violent as fuck towards pwud. And, this support means something for alot of us feeling like we're in the twilight zone; when the systems benefiting from the drug war say "uhm, nah", its gotten pretty bad.
The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police remains supportive of Consumption and Treatment Services #CTS - including accommodation for inhalation. Thank you @OACPOfficial ! oacp.ca/en/current-issues/re…

OH LOOK 👀 Another Conservative opinion writer misleading his readers about the cause of the drug crisis. Meet @BrianLilley, writer for the Toronto Sun. In his column today, Brian claims the increase in drug poisoning deaths in Ontario is BECAUSE OF supervised injection sites. And when it’s correctly pointed out that correlation does not equal causation, he calls that a lazy argument by progressives. NO BRIAN. Blaming supervised consumption for the rise in deaths and crime is the lazy argument. A quick look at data from elsewhere in North America proves it. U.S. ➡️ ONLY HAS 3 supervised consumption sites in the entire country: 1 in Rhode Island, 2 in New York ➡️ Deaths rose 350% (‼️‼️) in the U.S. between 2016-2022 Alberta: ➡️ SCALED BACK on supervised consumption sites in 2020 ➡️ Deaths rose 300% (‼️) between 2016-2023 B.C.: ➡️ provides supervised consumption sites. ➡️ Deaths rose 252% between 2016 - 2023 No matter where you are in North America, the cause of the crisis is the same: an illicit, unregulated drug supply that’s a toxic shitmix of fentanyl & other synthetic opioids, benzos, meth, coke, vet tranquilizers & painkillers never approved for use. No matter what government is in charge, no matter what drug policies are in place, drug deaths are skyrocketing BECAUSE OF THE COMPOSITION & POTENCY OF THE DRUG SUPPLY. ⭐️ But note: the increase in deaths has been LOWER in BC — the jurisdiction with the greatest number of supervised consumption sites and harm reduction programs available. SO MUCH FOR YOUR “EVIDENCE” BRIAN! Unfortunately, you won’t have to just take my word for it. When 10 of 17 supervised consumption sites close in Ontario next spring, you’ll be able to track the data yourself, and if it proves you wrong I hope you’ll have the grace to admit it, and to apologize to families of those lost for misleading them. #Toxicdrugcrisis #harmreduction #wedorecover #cdnpoli

Harm reductionists aren't opposed to treatment; we welcome it. But it isn't a dichotomy: people need both supervised consumption sites to stay alive and accessible treatment options when they're ready. Policy must be rooted in evidence, not ideology. thetrillium.ca/news/municipa…

Have a listen to @lesmatinsdici for my take on this week's disastrous decision by @fordnation & announced by @SylviaJonesMPP to reduce harm reduction capacity in Ontario. Pardon my French. ici.radio-canada.ca/ohdio/pr… #DrugProhibitionKills #HarmReductionSavesLives #EndTheWarOnDrugs

If a cancer treatment can extend a patient's life, even though it cannot cure the cancer, is it not worth it? If insulin can control diabetes, though not eliminate it, is it not success? Why in this disease are extending life and improving health not seen as worthy goals?

Calling in pals from the GBV shelter sector to speak up for harm-reduction and against SCS closures announced this week. Perhaps maybe speak to how: - Treatment options in Ontario are UNREGULATED= fertile gounds for for-profit capitalists to exploit addictions as a choice BS 1/

-The GBV sector is all too familiar with being tasked with ending all GBV. You understand the need to better understand feminist self-determination, power, and how patriarchy, white supremacy, and colonialism maintain GBV- similar parallels can be made with (SCSs).3/

-The GBV sector *gets* in their bones what its like feeling like no one cares about all the dead bodies. - GBV *gets* the dangers and necessity of public advocacy, and always matching social justice with service delivery. 4/
