KINDLY RETWEET THIS IF IT APPEARS ON YOUR TIMELINE!!! URGENT SOS: Illegal Midnight Raid, Assault, and Extortion by Police Officers at Egbeda At around 1:00 AM today, 9th September 2026, officers reportedly attached to the CP Tactical Unit, Egbeda, broke into the residence of blogger Lawrence Godwin while he and his family were asleep. - The officers assaulted Lawrence and his brother and accused them of internet fraud. - After seizing and searching their devices, they found only legitimate blogging records and CAC registration documents. - Finding zero incriminating evidence, the officers pivoted to accusing them of "not paying tax." - Both Lawrence and his brother are currently detained incommunicado without access to legal representation or family. - Officers are now demanding ₦1,000,000 for their bail and the boys are about spending their second night in custody. Since when has tax enforcement become a midnight operation for tactical police units? I call on @PoliceNG, @Princemoye1, @AbimbolaShotayo, @TunjiDisu1 and the Lagos State Police Command to intervene immediately, halt this blatant extortion, release Lawrence Godwin and his brother, and discipline the officers involved. @BenHundeyin @PoliceNG_CRU @PoliceNG_PCRRU @SERAPNigeria @AmnestyNigeria @InibeheEffiong @EiENigeria @mrmacaroni @SaharaReporters @channelstv @vanguardngrnews @MobilePunch @thecableng @PremiumTimesng @GazetteNGR @instablog9ja @AishaYesufu @SavvyRinu
