Us English-speaking Shimane residents used to all hop into a car together and drive the 5 hours to Kyushu just to go to Costco and buy some decent cheese in bulk. The whole prefecture celebrated when a Costco finally opened in Hiroshima City, only a 2-3 hour drive from Shimane.
