They failed so badly at this.

Clickbait. But the platinum card is fucking amazing.
A man has paid for the Amex Platinum for 3 years. The first year it cost him $695. The second year, $695 again. This year Amex raised it to $895. That's $2,285 out of his pocket for a piece of metal he keeps in his wallet. He got approved on a Tuesday. The card showed up that Friday, heavy and silver, and he felt something he hadn't felt about money in a long time: like he had arrived. He carried it into a restaurant that weekend and set it on the table a little slower than he needed to. He took a photo of it next to his coffee. He told two friends he finally "got the Platinum." Then he did what almost everyone does. He swiped it at dinners. He swiped it on groceries. He let the points pile up in an account he never opened. And when the annual fee hit his statement every year, he winced for about ten seconds and told himself the same sentence: "It's a premium card. It's probably worth it." That was his entire Amex Platinum experience. For 3 years he never opened the credits tab. Not once. Not when he paid full price for 40 Uber rides in a single year. Not when he booked a $400 hotel room and handed over his own money at the counter. Not when he bought a $16 sandwich in an airport while sitting next to a lounge his card could have walked him into. Not when his wife asked why they were paying so much for a card that "doesn't seem to do anything." He just shrugged. Paid the fee. Moved on. Then one Saturday his friend came over for a barbecue. This friend flies about 80 times a year, runs three Amex cards, and has a spreadsheet for his credit card spreadsheets. He watched the man pay for a hotel booking on his phone, tapped the screen, and asked one question. "You didn't use your hotel credit?" "What hotel credit?" His friend didn't laugh. He just looked at him for a few seconds, the way you'd look at someone who had been leaving the front door unlocked for three years, and said something that made the man pull out his phone and open the Amex app for the first time in months: "You're paying $895 a year for a coupon book, and you've never torn out a single coupon." Over the next hour, his friend walked him through every credit, perk and status benefit sitting inside the card the entire time. Hotel credits worth hundreds of dollars. Uber money that expires every single month. Free hotel status. Lounge access. Dining and shopping credits he'd never heard of. Most of them had been expiring unused, month after month, for three years. Here's every hidden Amex Platinum benefit he found, in the exact order his friend showed him ๐Ÿงต

$32 billion โ€” the amount of property tax revenue extracted by local governments in 2019. $49 billion โ€” the amount local governments would take in for 2026 if the 2019 baseline had been maintained with increases for population growth and inflation. $62 billion โ€” the actual amount local governments are taking from the people in property taxes in 2026. $84 billion โ€” the amount local governments will take from taxpayers in 2031 based on current trajectory. Yes on 3 โ€” the only way to protect taxpayers and put money back in peopleโ€™s pockets.

165 at 6ft is normal weight? I looked anorexic
You know America is full of fat people cus every time I, a 5โ€™8โ€ man, tell people I wanna weigh 160, they act like Iโ€™m anorexic, when in reality that would make me *just below overweight*

This.
Millennials really went from spending hours picking the perfect ringtone and customizing every inch of their phones to keeping them permanently on silent and ignoring every call like their life depends on it. They went from partying until sunrise with people whose last names they didn't even know to canceling plans because staying home sounds better, then experiencing social anxiety when they actually have to leave the house. They went from posting every detail of their lives online to wanting absolutely nobody to perceive them. From surviving on three hours of sleep to needing eight hours, a specific pillow, complete darkness, and zero responsibilities just to function. From saying โ€œYOLOโ€ to saying โ€œI don't have the energy for this.โ€ Honestly, millennials have one of the most impressive character arcs of any generation. We have experienced both extremes of almost everything. We can be completely unhinged on Friday and cancel every plan for the next six months by Saturday. You can't overestimate us, and you can't underestimate us. We contain multitudes. Mostly anxiety, nostalgia, and a desperate need to be left alone. ๐Ÿ˜‚
