A former UN official just said what the world needed to hear.
Alice Jill Edwards served as the UN's Independent Expert on torture from 2022 to 2026. She spent her career defending Palestinian refugees, led proceedings before Europe's highest court to protect them.
And yet, in a bombshell opinion piece in Britain's Daily Telegraph, she accuses two of her most prominent UN colleagues - Francesca Albanese, the UN rapporteur on Palestinian territories, and Reem Alsalem, the UN rapporteur on violence against women - of deliberately ignoring Hamas's sexual violence on October 7, 2023, calling their conduct one-sided, politically motivated, and a betrayal of the victims.
"They never formally documented these horrors, despite the growing body of evidence which to most of us is indisputable, but which they dispute."
She also takes direct aim at UN Secretary-General António Guterres, saying he has "failed to carry out the original mandate of the UN" and adopted a "fatalistic posture" while wars rage around the world.
When Edwards published her own report on October 7, only one other UN special rapporteur agreed to sign it. Others refused. Some tried to have material removed entirely. This is not coming from Israel. This is coming from inside the UN itself.
Thanks to everyone who joined @StandWithUs Northern California and Congregation Kol Shofar yesterday for “A Path to Peace: Israeli-Palestinian Coexistence with Gazan-American @afalkhatib,” a conversation with Rabbi Paul Steinberg about Alkhatib’s work with @rfpalestine.
We appreciate everyone who joined @StandWithUs Northern California last night for a wonderful evening with Ron Gerstenfeld, Israel’s Consul General to the Pacific Northwest.
Our rebuttal to ACLU’s claim that protecting Jewish students amounts to suppressing pro-Palestinian speech: “@StandWithUs Northern California Executive Director Oleg Ivanov told @CollegeFix, “Free speech & protecting Jewish students from discrimination are not competing values.”
…itself, the movement for Jewish self-determination in the Jewish people’s ancestral homeland. Universities should be places where difficult ideas can be debated freely without any student being targeted because of their identity,” he said.
“He added that colleges should allow space for active political debate on Israel while ensuring equal protection against antisemitism and discrimination for Jewish and Israeli students.”

Am Yisrael Chai! ✡️🇮🇱🕎
Thank you @HinduAmerican for your commemoration of the 10/7 Hamas massacre in Israel and support for Jewish and Israeli communities 🙏
On October 7, 2023, Hamas attacked communities across southern Israel, killing nearly 1,200 people, most of them Israeli civilians. Families were torn apart, and people around the world waited desperately for news of their loved ones.
Among those caught in the attack were young agricultural students from different parts of the world. They had come to Israel to study, gain experience, and take what they learned back home.
One of them was a 23-year-old Hindu student from Nepal named Bipin Joshi.
Bipin had come to Israel through the “Learn and Earn” program to study agriculture. Like so many young people his age, he had plans for his future. He was far from home, working hard and hoping that what he learned would help him build a better life for himself and his family.
As Hamas terrorists attacked, Bipin and other students hid in a shelter. When grenades were thrown inside, Bipin picked one up and threw it back out, helping protect the people hiding with him. One of the students later told the BBC that he may not have survived without Bipin’s actions.
Ultimately, Bipin was abducted. And for more than two years, his family waited. They hoped for a phone call, for good news, for the chance to see their son come home.
But that call never came. Bipin had been murdered in captivity. He was the 11th Hindu victim of the October 7 attacks.
Bipin was 23. He was a student, a son, and a young Hindu from Nepal who had travelled far from home because he wanted to learn and build something better for his future.
Bipin’s story is a reminder that behind every victim of October 7 was a life, a family, and a future that mattered.
He should have studied, returned home to his family, built a life, and grown old. Instead, his story ended far too soon.
May Bipin’s memory never be forgotten. Aum Shanti.
The documentary #NAZA has been widely criticized for its deeply misleading claims about #Israel’s war against #Hamas. Dr. Michael Harris, Chair of the @StandWithUs Northern California Advisory Board, and I dissect it in @jewishsf: jweekly.com/2026/10/05/naza-…
I had the honor to represent @StandWithUs Northern California on @kron4news today to talk about our community’s 10/7 commemoration program in San Francisco tomorrow.
