Faulty PSOne from the trash with the common issues. Broken solder joints on the DC jack. Leaking capacitors that prevent audio and/or video output.

Resoldered the DC jack and temporarily replaced the usual suspects with THT ones. It's working again. I'll give it a full recap once I get some new capacitors. Another console saved from the scrap yard

0.9785cm² - 123.68mm circuit traces. The tiny-SuperCIC. Fits the footprint of the original CIC

I built a burn-in cartridge for the SNES. I don't like botch wires, so I had the silly idea to make an adapter PCB to reroute 5 pins. The idea works. It wasn't that silly after all :D

I expected I'd have to replace the membrane with a modified one first so that the tactile switches would feel good. That turned out to be unfounded; all the buttons still respond very well and consistently.

Let's see if all tactile was a good idea :D

Either there is no PCB with pair mode for the SuperCIC mod, or I haven't found it. So I made one myself. Fits well.

If you can't buy a replacement battery pack, you'll just have to weld it together yourself.

Another game saved. This time Faxanadu for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Here in the middle of work. One side is finished, the other still needs the gold layer.

2 cartridges that had been badly sanded by Hard Off have been restored to their former glory. Hard off, fuck off.

How can we make Game Boy SP brass buttons even more beautiful? By gold plating them after nickel plating 😍

Screw the Zelda SP. 24 karat gold plated parts that no one sees are much cooler

Some time ago, I added a Tri-Star for the SFC/SNES to my collection. While searching for the manual, I found a few articles about possible modifications to the device. Empty sockets and footprints, unclosed jumpers... The PCB practically invites you to do so.

After testing a few more things, it turned out that the Tri-Star does not boot at all or when it boots, without a menu. It also no longer plays NES games. What did I break? Fortunately, nothing. I tried a few more capacitors with different values, and a 470 uF one did the trick.

I tested 3 different caps with 1000uf as suggested, but it doesn't work for me. With 470uf the previously visible jailbars are now barely visible. Everything is now functioning as it should. Happy Tri-Star
