🧵 The firearm suicide rate has been rising steadily among young people in their teens and twenties over the last decade, with the sharpest increases among people of color. Read more about our new analysis of public health data:
A graphic visualizes the percent change in U.S. firearm suicide rates between 2011/2012 and 2019/2020, broken down by age and race. The country saw the highest rates of change among people aged 10-19 and 20-29, particularly those who identified as Asian/Pacific Islander (150% and 55% respectively), Black/African American (120% and 57%), Hispanic/Latino (100% and 73%), or American Indian/Alaska Native (88% and 30%).
