Thrilled my chat with VT on Ideas that Matter gained great traction! Link in the comments.
In a nutshell, the MKP is saying ‘we are ready to play with other kids and we have a negotiating team, already. “A first in SA” for a party to publicly announce, to paraphrase the SC. Duduzane stops short of admitting their stance didn’t work last time. The party was careful not to rule out the litigation option though.
It’s encouraging to see the MKP swiftly moving on to the next steps regarding the election outcome. This marks a significant departure from their stance in 2024.

Bhuti, you don't know the defense mode once someone starts attacking IEC in my presence. We must never try to undermine that institution. No electoral body overseas the vote decline of a struggle movement. Naba banxakene lento pha eBulawayo.
Dear Juju, thank you for your kind words about the IEC and the fairness of the elections. Point of correction: people didn’t lose confidence “in themselves”. They lost confidence in organisations that allowed themselves to be conduits for sgebengas!
Casualties of the process of this election have been remembered. Good call from Mbalula for the cases to be pursued.
One thing we must be grateful for as a country is the conduct of our political parties in response to election results. No Jonas Savimbi tendencies.
It’s been a family affair. Yet, those within the ANC whose friends left to start splinter parties are calling for the heads of those who remain their frenemies in the party, blaming the latter for the decline. Mdumiseni Ntuli has offered a better approach. Proper introspection across the board. That makes more sense
Updated after 99% of votes were counted, slight reprieve in its share of the vote.
At what point does an organisation say stop, for the sake of leaving a great legacy for those coming after us, let us do things differently? #LGE2026
A definition of speaking in a responsible and accountable way.
[WATCH] Mdumiseni Ntuli says the ANC NEC must use the party’s second consecutive electoral decline as an opportunity for honest introspection. He says a frank discussion is needed about whether the party has lived up to its responsibilities, adding that the conversation must focus on accountability rather than blame.

And you don’t change ward seats without a by-election. Kwekh…

THE RISE AND FALL OF THE ANC
A chart by @omtimka shows that in 2006, the ANC commanded 80.4% of the vote. By 2026, that support shows it has possibly fallen to just 45.8%.
The era of unquestioned ANC dominance in the Eastern Cape (and the country over) is starting to crack.
