Ramblings from a Bristolian, via Dallas, the Cayman Islands & now Wales! All typo's are probably because I'm not wearing my glasses 👓

The new minimum wage in the UK is now £27,456 per year. Sounds good, right? Not really. It's still nowhere near enough for a single person to cover the basics. £27,456 a year works out at roughly £1,869 a month after tax, National Insurance and workplace pension contributions. Now let's do the maths: Rent: £900 Council Tax: £140 Utilities: £170 Fuel/car insurance/tax: £300 Monthly food shop: £300 Phone bill: £50 WiFi: £30 That leaves you £21 short every month, just to cover the basics. You're already in the red before you've even paid for toiletries, emergencies or anything resembling a social life. Even if you get rid of your car and rely on public transport, costing around £200 a month, you'd have just £79 left to last you the entire month. People will say get housemates, rent a room or budget better. But if you're working full time, your wages should cover the basics and leave you with something to save every month. Nobody is asking for a luxury lifestyle. They're asking for a full-time job to provide a decent standard of living. One of the richest countries in the world, where millions of people are working full time and still living payday to payday. We're not living. We're just surving.

Called up @firstdirect to make sure the funds were available at the bank to draw out 2.5K They were not happy, wanted to know what it was for. Told them a gift for my daughter for her holiday. They asked where she was going, I told the non of their business. They have refused.

Had the misfortune of hearing the news headlines today on the radio, I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that the first story was a really positive piece on how AI helped to spot a problem on the internet and a couple of headlines later that Barclays are laying off 5000 workers as it relies more on AI. Promoting AI positively so that you don’t feel bad about 5000 people losing their jobs to it 🙄

Dear bra companies, I am BEGGING you to stop making bras with removable pads. 😭 Nobody wants to spend 10 minutes trying to shove a folded-up triangle back into a tiny hole after laundry day. WE ARE TIRED.

Your bank will never tell you this But a 30 year mortgage takes: 23 years with one extra overpayment a year
16 years with two extra payments/year
10 years with three extra payments/year  But warning: use the term ‘capital overpayment’ so they don’t use your overpayment to cover interest & fees too  You can literally shave two thirds off your mortgage with smart money moves

I've seen these self serve dog washes around for about 15 years but never tried one until today. I took Hobo to Dylans pets to try theirs out. What do you think? Would you try it? Let me know below. youtube.com/shorts/RM1NsG-Li…
