"Saami" is a low-floor high-ceiling numbers game that is accessible to both toddlers as well as challenging for adults.
My 2 year old can understand it and yet I have not made it past level 25.
Try it!

I do think part of this conversation should be about why STEM higher ed is configured in such a way that these high-privilege experiences are expected/necessary.
(My bias is I never did any of them and still did a math major at a selective school)

I'm looking for games that involve Cuisenaire Rods but I'm beginning to think they don't exist. There's a ton of exploration and play...strategy-based games, not so much.
What's your favorite game that incorporates Cuisenaire Rods? #elemathchat #iteachmath

On a whim and at a loose end, I had my 6yo cut a scrappy piece of paper into pieces (he cut 30, as it happens) and I wrote numbers on them fairly arbitrarily, thinking I could show him some sorting algorithms.
Well, wow!

Here it is all in one place: the true geometric understanding of the equation of the parabola.
I typed this all up on the math stack exchange.

How about defining everything based on probability?!
We define *e* to be the reciprocal of the limit as n→∞ of the probability that, when n people mix up their hats randomly, no one will get their own hat back.

The bifold door is an isosceles triangle that hinges open as one base vertex is dragged across.
I noticed that the first part of the door traces a circular arc. But what curve does the second part of the door create?

Final project in #calculus: find a creative way to synthesize what you learned. One group made this “Calculus UNO” deck!
(You can’t play a card until you figure out the answer, lol.)
