Chiefs org opened themselves up to this unnecessarily with that Tucker signing. This was an own goal. Hard to feel sorry for Clark Hunt, not a huge fan of him, he is not his father. Not in the slightest. The last three years they’ve really lost the plot up there. The success has made things weird.

Spags defense has a fundamental problem against mobile QBs AND disciplined pocket passers. His aggressive blitz packages and man coverage create escape lanes when the rush doesn’t get home. We’ve watched post-Achilles Kirk Cousins and Sam Darnold evade pressure like Lamar and Vick.
But the irony? QBs like Burrow, Purdy and Hurts can expose the same scheme by staying disciplined, identifying pressure, attacking vacated zones and getting the ball out on time. You don’t even have to scramble to beat Spags. You just have to understand what he’s trying to do.
And when your $45M cap-hit DT can’t consistently finish or maintain rush-lane integrity, all that manufactured pressure becomes a liability.

An uncomfortable reality as @cdotharrison and a few others bang on the table for Josh Downs, is that Andy Reid himself may not value WR the same way the rest of the league does and may in fact feel his system is paramount and not the talent. His comments this week about acquiring a WR that has to be smart and be able to pick up his system. Not a great route runner, not a great catch point guy but able to learn his system. The numbers below lead me to believe Reid simply doesn’t value talent at the position in the same way we do
