I wanted to create a simple scan for JAS-MIN that would indicate whether your database might suffer from fragmentation and scans of empty blocks. Instead, I fell down the rabbit hole of internal statistics counters…

Burning credits continues... ALIS can now create Ansible playbook for out of place patching. Next - I will be testing upgrade 19c->26ai later today.

Couldn't make @POUG_ORG this year so drinking from the POUG cup during Office Hours was the best I could manage :-)

AI assisted hacking session with Kamil.
Entertaining, educative, disturbing.
Conclusion:
“So what can we do?
Drink beer and watch the world burn!”
In that sense: Cheers! 🍻

In Oracle 26ai, auto-login wallets are protected by a randomly generated password encrypted with a random 128-bit AES key.
Both are stored in the cwallet.sso header, allowing the original ewallet.p12 and its TDE master key to be recovered.

orafun.info is dead, but it got a facelift and found a new home at ora-600.pl/orafun.
Glad to see this amazing tool back! Thanks to @fritshoogland @ora600pl and @OracleSK for creating and supporting it.
Lovely!
The DBMS_CREDENTIAL.CREATE_CREDENTIAL procedure obfuscates passwords by encrypting them with a randomly generated AES-128 key.
The encrypted password and its encryption key are then base64 encoded and stored in the data dictionary.

JAS-MIN got recently a big update:
github.com/ora600pl/jas-min/
You can now run it in MCP server mode, which allows you yo use any tool (like Codex, Claude Code or OpenCode) and any model (public or private) for really insightful AI analyzes!

AI can write code. AI can explain code. AI can even help debug code.
But AI cannot replace understanding.
💡 Why This Session Matters
As LLMs become part of every developer's toolkit, many people are focusing on prompts, models, and tools.
But the real advantage comes from something else: context.
Understanding how systems work, how processes communicate, how memory behaves, how networks fail, and how software is built remains essential. Without that foundation, even the most advanced AI can generate convincing answers that lead you in the wrong direction.
This session takes a refreshingly honest look at the relationship between human knowledge and artificial intelligence—and why the best results come when strong fundamentals meet powerful AI tools.
🎯 What You'll Learn
✅ Why building your own technical context matters more than ever
✅ How to use LLMs as accelerators rather than replacements for expertise
✅ How deep technical understanding unlocks possibilities far beyond code generation
