prototyped a lobby for supervillain, a ttrpg vtt you play over ssh
the value of being the human who does the domain work upfront (which I spent like a month on lmao) is that logical prototypes then easily fall out of your own well-defined possibility space
is anyone else doing this sort of "early career but not exclusively for college kids" type hiring? some of us are trying to change careers out here! this is good to see

kinda sad about it tbh but I knew the second I saw it that I wouldn't like the iphone duo and all the reviews of it just validate my gut feeling
but I do kinda want a slightly bigger screen, so the new ipad mini might make me a happy iphone+ipad guy
picking the right pieces still matters, too! @EffectTS_ v4 keeps the host solid, @opencode's opentui draws the screen (and its ssh package was the starting point for my own rewrite of it), and the kitty graphics protocol carries @michaelmicasso's MEKmode glyphs
ok this is very fun tbh
four claudes running a ttrpg in a terminal
the gm hosts and three players have their own keys to ssh into the game
it's fully playable with the cli, so every agent reads the board state then sends real commands to move / attack / roll dice
I've had a series of different accounts but I've been here in one form or another since 2008, when I 12 years old. not much I can do when my home gets a new landlord
oscargabriel.dev get at me 🤙
ssh ttrpg vtt has been achieved internally
aka, play a tabletop role playing game in a virtual tabletop over secure shell with all your friends in their own terminals
featuring incredible work from @michaelmicasso (MEKmode glyphs, rendered in-terminal via kitty graphics protocol) and @wwwjim (the set.world/ api provides the character data and ruleset) 🤙
pouring one out tonight 😔
We've decided to sunset Arc on December 22, 2026.
That's not an easy sentence to write. We spent years building Arc and celebrating each and every release along the way: we have so much pride and love for what we made alongside the Arc community.
Our priority is to deliver best-in-class security for our members. Keeping a browser secure takes constant, dedicated work that is only increasing in the age of AI. Dia was built from the ground up to meet today’s security standards, so that's where our engineering and security teams will focus moving forward.
We've worked to make switching to @diabrowser as easy as possible for Arc members. Here's how:
· Your passwords, bookmarks, extensions and history come over to Dia seamlessly.
· Spaces, Folders, and Tab Groups are in Dia and import over with your data intact.
· Dia now surpasses Arc benchmarks in stability, speed, and security.
· The browser features you use in Arc are free in Dia, and the AI is optional.
Thank you for using Arc, for pushing us to make it better, and for building alongside us. The team that made Arc is the same team behind Dia, and some of our most ambitious work is just ahead. We'd love for you to be there with us when it lands.
can't believe the timeline got pumped up kicks stuck in my head again after a decade of not thinking about that song
listing two different things with the same acronym is the most google thing ever
also this new two-tone gmail ui?? what are we doin man
I dunno who needs to hear this but I've done 1 a ton and did 2 at my last role
let me do 3 at your company, hit me up
3 steps to becoming an actual software programmer
1. Build personal software
2. Build internal software (for a select group of people)
3. Build public-facing software
If you've only ever built personal software you're not qualified to build public-facing yet.
As you climb the rungs the stakes get higher, your constraints get tighter, and you need to QA harder.
So my advice for anyone who's never built an app is this:
Find a small group of testers (even 1 is great) that will actually use an app you built in their real lives.
The feedback you'll get will blow your mind. It'll show you how forgiving you are of your own crappy product. You'll begin to focus on process and quality.
It'll be frustrating, slow, and hard work.
That's programming.
can confirm, don't have a boss to pay for theo's course, am deeply enjoying my time with @bootdotdev
Replying to @wagslane @joelhooks
🫡 appreciate yall a ton
Everyone who doesn’t qualify under my “have your boss pay for it” callout should probably be on boot :)
I spend half of my time on this app in my bookmarks
tbh I should be able to pin it to the top bar as its own timeline
I actually love and read all your blog posts, explainer videos, portfolio sites, design showcases, etc etc
increasingly (semi)deterministic ways to make it impossible for slop to enter your codebase is definitely the thing to be focused on rn !

... you can't teach every such lesson upfront.
You work with your agent. You correct it.
Traits saves the underlying lesson, applies it to future code, and sends violations back to the agent to fix.
Teach your agent to code the way you do.
