Translating from bullshit to English — they created the car around Lando’s driving style (more responsive, more sensitive to steering inputs, less stable in the corners), but they realised they’d fucked up when Lando himself couldn’t handle the car’s unpredictable behaviour.

McLaren fucked up before the season began and all their upgrades are playing catch-up to fix those mistakes while the others work towards actually making the cars faster and developing it further, we may as well be the only team in the top 4 starting from scratch next year

Let's just get the definition of trailored upgrades out of the way. They only benefit one driver, only one driver uses them. If these upgrades (which are fucking netural) made the car slower, Norris can simply go back to the Zandvoort Hungary spec and not use them like Oscar <3
