art is subjective! but what do they even know about storytelling? they think storytelling is just about telling a literal story? lol.
storytelling can be expressed through styling, camera composition, colors, location, lighting, performance, and so much more.
the album is called “Oriade“ and this video is a celebration of culture and a homage to yoruba culture. it’s a cute love song, with most of the chorus in yoruba, so the cultural elements are intentional.
when it comes to storytelling, i’m up there! i said it!
seeing you explain all of this in detail is so beautiful. love Foza 🤍🍃
Lol the B4 B4 video is actually very on brand.
Opening scene is women preparing food for an inter-cultural introduction, tie & dye in action, families coming in with gifts, everybody celebrating.
Davido opens in tie & dye, Mayorkun and FOLA are also in these modern interpretations of cultural outfits and then the video takes us back to the couple as young lovers, playing hide and seek, doing that innocent love thing.
Then it cuts back to them as adults, now in the full celebratory setting, basically showing us that this has been a long love story and they are finally sealing the deal.
Which is literally what B4 B4 is about.
That long-time friend/crush/almost-lover that has been there B4 B4, and now it is like abeg, enough of all these other titles, let’s make this thing permanent 😂
Even the fashion and all the aesthetic B-rolls capture the different personalities of the artistes properly.
Very simple concept but the storytelling is there and its African and cultural which is the theme of the album.

10 years ago, I worked with Davido for the first time.
A decade passed. ORIADÉ arrived.
Directing B4 B4, felt less like a job and more like an offering. Because this video is everything I believe art should be. A great cinematography and Beautiful storytelling, never one at the expense of the other.
A homage to Yoruba heritage. The Elegance and grace of it. Wealth and Colour without excess.
B4 B4 video out now! directed by me!
