Buy centers are shifting focus from conversion rates to appraisal volume.
Rob Dell, Vice President of @BobRuthFordInc, breaks down why capturing more appraisals and owning the data matters more than squeezing each deal.
"If we converted 8% of all of our appraisals, my question isn't, how do I get it to 10%? My question is, if I have 2000 appraisals, how do I get 4,000 appraisals? That's all it comes down to. That's why I say we collect VIN numbers. And then, what are you gonna do once you capture that data? Are you just gonna throw it in your appraisal tool and throw it away? Or are you gonna retain it so you can market to that customer till the end of time?"

95.5% of dealership websites failed Google’s Core Web Vitals on mobile and desktop:
That means almost every top-50 group is running digital storefronts at risk of losing search visibility across Google’s ecosystem.
However, the sites that meet Google’s benchmarks typically see a lift in organic traffic by up to 20%.
The signal: Many dealers are still spending heavily to drive traffic into subpar experiences.

We’ve been saying it all day, every day. It’s great to see @ShiftDigital1 speak their truth on the subject.
Speed and stability: They're not just website metrics—they're the building blocks of better customer experiences and stronger sales.

50% of used car shoppers want to keep their next purchase < $15K:
But they'll have to make some compromises...
Back in 2019 — $15K got you a 5-year-old car. Today — the same used vehicle age is averaging $25K.
The problem? Used car supply is still constrained, keeping prices elevated…
And to stay within budget, buyers are now looking at 9-year-old cars — which are going for an avg. of $14,805.
Bottom line: Used car prices are slowly course-correcting (down 22% from the 2022 peak), but we're still far from pre-pandemic levels.

We don’t write the news, we just report it.
And they’ll tell you it doesn’t matter.
The same people likely don’t have a cobbled-together solution to sell you that meets Google’s standard, so… there’s that.
As a dealer, wouldn’t it feel good to finally get what you’re paying for?
[NEWS] Car dealership websites aren’t measuring up:
A new study by Overfuel found that less than 1% of the top 50 dealership group websites passed Google’s Core Web Vitals (CWV) assessment, which measures things like load times.
Why so many failures?
Bloated website code, under-resourced hosting, oversized media, and overuse of third-party plugins.
That sounds bad, but let’s take a step back.
According to Google, half of all websites—not just dealerships—struggle with CWV standards.
Dealership websites also have extra challenges like high-res vehicle images, chatbots, and other features that slow down performance.
And the elephant in the room?
Overfuel is a website solutions provider and their study offers just one example of a dealer-client who actually drove more website visits after improving CWV scores.
Bottom line: Dealers aren’t passing Google’s standards but more data is needed to clarify what impact that’s having on the actual user experience.

Prediction:
Dealership websites will evolve in major ways in the coming years.
A new @overfuel_com study shared a shocking stat:
Less than 1% of the top 50 dealership websites passed Google’s basic web standards.
So what?
For an industry that represents 3% of US GDP, these numbers are abysmal.
But it's not just about poor customer experience—it’s costing dealerships visibility on search engines and, ultimately, sales.
Reminder:
The average car buyer spends *weeks* on vehicle display pages before ever stepping foot inside a dealership.
Act accordingly.
