Robinson averaged and 8 and 8 that season also. These kids think Manu and Parker were all stars when they were drafted. It took them years to become solid players. Also Stephen Jackson was bouncing from team to team and in 2001-2002 he rode the bench all year long for the spurs. Pop started him the next season after he busted his ass at training camp and pre season.

Duncan put up 40 on Dirk and Amare in 2 different playoff matchup. Plus KG had a championship contending roster in 2004 with Cassell (19 ppg) and Sprewell (16 ppg). That team was lowkey better than the 03 Spurs. They just couldn't get past the Lakers in the WCF

Manu was a Rookie averaging 7 PPG off the bench in 2003, Parker was a 2nd year player who got benched in the Finals for Speedy Claxton b/c he was playing so poorly, and Robinson was in his finals season and washed. That Spurs 2003 Championship was a carry job by Duncan. Legit.

Craziest thing All the comments going to that one KG playoff game 😭😭😭
KG was never doing anything like this in the playoffs, yet alone the finals

Duncan undoubtedly had the better career circumstance. However, he was still clearly a better player

Man...go look at that roster for the Spurs in 03 and you'll see that this was an all-time carry job by Timmy

The Tim Duncan disrespect has to cease. I love KG, hell, he's from my state, but lets keep it a brick, Duncan is the reason San Antonio was relevant for decades. David Robinson didn't win anything until TD came. TD won with and without Manu and Tony. Stop the nonsense.

This argument of Baylor with White also works for why Scheierman pairs well with Pritchard off the bench. It makes sense to not play Hugo & Walsh at the same time. PP gets trapped a lot and Scheierman helps him out a lot more than Hauser/Walsh/Hugo can. Very useful player.

KG wasn't doing what Timmy did in 03. Particularly going head to head with Shaq

all you have to do is look at his 1st two title runs and the carry job he did he was already top 15 all time by 2003 in his prime when all the marbles was on the line he almost always showed up when it mattered a lot of his peers from that era just couldn’t rise like he did
Tim Duncan made the Spurs an elite franchise. Tony Parker and Manu are JAGS w/o Timmy. Same could be said for Popovich. I get that fans liked KG more, but Duncan was the more complete player and honestly showed up more in bigger moments

The Spurs were not a transcendent winning organization. In fact Popovich was on the hot seat before drafting Duncan.
