I did a thing last Wednesday. #marryyourbestfriend my heart is filled more than I thought possible.
What are schools putting in place this week to help with this heatwave and extreme heat alert ? @NEUnion @DeputyGrocott @PalekarSal @MrHtheteacher

Teachers make around 1,500 decisions a day.
In a 10 hour day thats 150 decisions an hour.
That’s a decision to make every 24 seconds.
Nearly 300,000 decisions in 39 weeks of teaching.
Such a mentally demanding job.
Too many holidays, yeah right!

A very unexpected day off today due to school closure. But my goodness did I need it. So much happening personally in my close family and such a long term. No tired like teacher tired.
I have realised that now my children no longer need me that my summer holidays hold zero appeal for me. A couple of weeks to recharge then I have honestly had the loneliest most depressing summer ever. Next year I’m going to get a summer job.

Last night at Anfield will stay with me forever - not because of one person's words, but because of how the entire football family stood together.
To my @afcbournemouth teammates who supported me in that moment, to the @LiverpoolFC players and fans who showed their true character, to the @premierleague officials who handled it professionally - thank you. Football showed its best side when it mattered most.
Scoring those two goals felt like speaking the only language that truly matters on the pitch. This is why I play - for moments like these, for my teammates, for everyone who believes in what this beautiful game can be.
The overwhelming messages of support from across the football world remind me why I love this sport. We keep moving forward, together. 🙏🏾⚽

In an instant, he’s no longer a multi-million pound footballer, adored all over the world. He’s just a lad whose mate has died, sharing that grief with us all. What a player, but more importantly, what a person.
Special, heartbreaking moment.

Messy staffroom?
If staff only have 15 mins to get to the staffroom, eat their lunch & go to the toilet, then they are very likely to dump & run.
Instead of berating them for being messy, investigate why they are being messy.
Workload issues show up in many different ways.

I cannot RT this often enough. It is the way to deal with the majority of mould & damp problems. Lack of understanding of the science of this is a huge issue.

Our daughter lives in Germany and they open their windows every morning for a while. It’s called Lüften. They do it even when it’s really cold.
Peak level of teaching today. “Miss, is that my poo in the toilet?” Nearly thirty years of teaching and this has been one of many firsts on my #send education journey
I’ll go to bed early I think. Start prepping my body for the new term I think. Have stared at the ceiling for nearly three hours. Listened to two podcasts and still wide awake.

This is so important. 👇
The wellbeing and mental health of teachers and education staff needs to be a priority for all schools.
Better mental health leads to better education.
