It’s a good day for America. And for me. Everyone goes on about how traumatic it is to get a US visa. But here’s my experience. I needed to renew my visa. I went online & filled a form. I gave my passport to @VFSGlobal for a drop box & got it back in 5 working days with the new visa. Much easier than renewing most European visas. Most impressed by @USAndIndia & VFS.

Cutting through all the political theatre and polarized discourse, we should remember a strong democracy is when one democratic institution raises concerns and the other institution responds to them. Today, with the latest revision to the new voter enrolment Form 6, the Election Commission of India (ECI) completes a series of steps on the issues raised in The Indian Express investigation published five weeks ago. On each of the 10 decisions the two Election Commissioners objected to, in writing, on 14 separate occasions — which The Indian Express revealed. Tough as it to see beyond all the public posturing from various parties involved, if we focus only at the actions: today's developments reaffirm our faith in the strength of India’s democracy and the vital, constructive role a free press plays. To see how the EC’s measures play out, keep watching the Express space.

Tonight, the American people sent a clear message — they want a politics that brings people together rather than divides them, and leaders who offer concrete solutions to the challenges they face. These results were only possible because outstanding candidates stepped forward in every region of the country — including in areas once considered long shots. They came from different backgrounds and represented a range of political perspectives, but were united by shared values, a belief in public service, and a commitment to putting the people of their districts and states first. We also owe a debt of gratitude to the thousands of election officials and volunteers from both parties who helped ensure a smooth election and carried out one of the most essential functions of our democracy. While this administration has another two years in office, our job now is to roll up our sleeves, make changes wherever we have the power to do so, prevent further damage, and lay the groundwork for the future.

The AQI levels in Delhi are alarming. So who do we blame now? Because I don’t think anyone gives a monkey’s toss about solving this issue. Also sadly haven’t seen any photo-ops…

A 50-year legacy also comes with the responsibility to keep evolving. As India Today celebrated five decades of journalism, Kalli Purie, Vice Chairperson and Executive Editor-in-Chief of the India Today Group, represents the leadership driving its evolution for a changing media landscape. From new platforms to changing audience expectations, the challenge is not just to preserve a legacy, but to ensure it continues to matter. @IndiaToday | @aajtak | @aroonpurie | @VivekMalhotra__ | @anjanaomkashyap | @supriyapd | @anuragbatrayo | @SwetaSinghAT #KalliPurie #IndiaToday50 #IndianMedia #MediaIndustry #e4m

I would appeal to all to oppose the Draft Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Control and Supervision of Experiment, Breeding and Trading of Laboratory Animals) Rules, 2026. The draft rules, circulated by the Centre, will allow capture and use of wild animals—including endangered or protected Show More species under vague "scientific justification”. The draft rules also permit experiments on community and free-ranging stray dogs and cats. The rules also accommodate extreme procedures, like electric shocks, prolonged isolation of animals like dogs and monkeys and induced tumors Animal lovers have opposed this. PETA India has demanded withdrawal of these draft rules. One thing is clear. Change in animal lab testing rules will encourage cruelty to animals. If ethics panel gets the powers for granting approval to such lab experiments, nobody can stop it. During lab tests, animals undergo insufferable pain, but they cannot express it like humans. Rabbits, rats, monkeys and dogs are kept in small cages in labs, they are given needle pricks regularly. Since they are animals, no consent can be taken. The ideal condition is: use of animals in lab trials must be kept to the bare minimum and care must be taken that the animals do not suffer pain. As far as possible, non-animal testing should replace animal testing, but the new draft rules will put the clock back. In many countries animal testing is difficult and costly, and India may be used as the place at cheap costs. This is dangerous. We should register our objections over these new draft rules. Since November 5 is the deadline, I would appeal to all to scan the relevant QR code to register your objections.

Three years. Three World Summits. And a world that looks remarkably different each time we meet. It was wonderful to welcome Prime Minister @narendramodi back to the NDTV World Summit for the third consecutive year. The global order is being reshaped. Old certainties are giving way to new realities. And India’s role in this changing landscape is becoming an increasingly important part of the international conversation. The Prime Minister’s address, set against our theme A World Between Orders, offered his perspective on how India sees these changes and the role it aspires to play. For all of us at NDTV, having the Prime Minister join this conversation for a third successive year is something that means a great deal to us. We are grateful to the Prime Minister for making time to be with us once again. His continued presence at the Summit over these three years is something we deeply appreciate. Thank you, Prime Minister, for your time, your thoughts and the warmth and encouragement you have extended to the entire @ndtv team. #NDTVWorldSummit #NarendraModi #NDTV #India #WorldBetweenOrders

EXPRESS INVESTIGATION Bihar banned alcohol. But a new drug crisis is emerging. Ten years of prohibition. An extraordinary policing effort. Every day, Bihar Police has seized an average of 8,650 litres of liquor and arrested 196 people for liquor-related crimes. Yes, that’s 196 arrests / day. No typo. Yet, beneath the crackdown on illicit alcohol, a more insidious trade is taking root. Heroin. Tablets. Pocket-sized packets. Vials. Drugs hidden in soap boxes and petticoat folds. From smuggled bottles to a booming underground drug market, Bihar’s battle with addiction is entering a dangerous new phase. An investigation by The Indian Express. indianexpress.com/article/ex…
