I appreciate you sharing that testimony from an author. I find spelling errors in 95% of published books without looking for them. wordrefiner.com/word-refinin… wordrefiner.com/learn-more.h… I have an immediate opening for proofreading. Are you ready? @magnifyk

Support the arts 🎭 Get a museum membership. Go to the symphony. Date night at the ballet. Buy a painting from a living artist. These things are not guaranteed. They only survive if we support them.

Except Wilde was never miserable, even in his darkest hour...
Just Joyce@johnstonglenn30 Nov 2025
Oscar Wilde died OTD 125 years ago. Richard Ellmann said James Joyce in Trieste saw in Wilde something of what he was coming to regard as his own personality, “the miserable man who sings of joy.”

A good one from @JoyceCarolOates
Joyce Carol Oates

existentialism is essentially an optimistic way of life--you create your own life/meaning by action; it is inaction, brooding without doing anything about it, over-punctilious thought, that leads to stagnation, pessimism. just being in the French resistance gave plenty of meaning to the lives of individuals courageous enough to make this choice.
