silently raised my hand and saluted her and my tears didn’t stop when I prayed for her. She is not just a survivor from Chinese hell, she is someone far greater than that. There is a strength in her that feels almost divine and untouchable.

Five years after my release from wrongful detention in China, and its Communist Party is still taking hostages. As Trump hosts Xi, Huawei goes on trial, and Beijing continues disappearing other countries’ citizens, the geopolitical tensions of the Meng-Michaels Affair are still with us. Taiwan is officially proposing a massive 16% jump in its 2027 defense budget, pushing military spending past $31 billion for the very first time.
As the Chinese Communist Party ramps up near-daily military intimidation around the island, Taiwan's President Lai Ching-te is taking decisive action to guarantee his nation's survival. The proposed budget will exceed 3% of Taiwan's GDP, channeling critical resources into coast guard operations, veteran care, and cutting-edge combat systems.
Rather than matching Beijing's massive military machine aircraft for aircraft, Taipei is focusing heavily on asymmetric warfare—building domestic stealth submarines, swarming combat drones, and resilient air defense networks.
This record commitment also answers calls from the United States encouraging democratic partners to take primary ownership of their territorial defense.
When a peaceful democratic island is forced to spend tens of billions just to deter authoritarian aggression, what more should global democracies do to back them up?

At a Beijing summit on July 27–28, 2026, CCP leader Xi Jinping issued a direct directive urging over 60 million Chinese overseas across nearly 200 nations to "actively serve the great cause of national reunification".
The high-level meeting included top regime officials like Wang Huning, Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
Under official United Front strategy, Beijing explicitly urged overseas communities to "rally hearts and strength" and leverage their unique advantages to advance the Party’s core political objectives.
These outreach efforts are managed by the United Front Work Department (UFWD), the Party agency tasked with expanding influence abroad and mobilizing global diaspora communities. By treating foreign citizens and residents of Chinese descent as tools for state goals, the regime continues extending its political reach into sovereign nations.
When an authoritarian party-state openly mobilizes millions of overseas residents for its geopolitical agenda, where should host nations draw the line between genuine cultural ties and foreign influence operations?

The Chinese government is engaging in human rights abuses comparable to Nazi Germany.
People in concentration camps are being executed, so their organs can be sold for profit. It's incredibly disturbing regardless but the individuals are usually ethnic or religious minorities.
Here’s what one Kazakh woman witnessed below China’s Uyghur concentration camps.
“I’m going to talk about something that I haven’t talked about to anyone,” she told investigator Ethan Gutmann.
“Samal” worked at a series of medical clinics or labs four stories below a camp in Xinjiang. Two masked guards with AKs kept watch.
In the first clinic, her job was to remove intestines.
“The other three clinics were there to remove organs. You couldn't see them, but occasionally the door would open. You'd see somebody handling a kidney, a liver and so forth.
Every day that she worked there, there'd be eight or nine bodies. Sometimes it was as many as 20.”
“Almost always young.”

Professor John Mearsheimer:
Israel has become an albatross around America’s neck.
A great power should not allow a minor power to shape its grand strategy.
It just goes to show you how enormously powerful the lobby is.
When you look at this conflict, it is seriously eroding our capability to contain China in East Asia. We’re pulling THAADs and Patriots out of South Korea and Japan. This is truly remarkable.
We have been shortchanging East Asia.
We have been shortchanging our containment policy in East Asia for quite a while now because of Israel, and the situation is now only getting worse.

BREAKING:
China has been reading the private communications of 3 British Prime Ministers for 4 years.
Boris Johnson.
Liz Truss.
Rishi Sunak.
Their closest aides. Their most sensitive calls. Their text messages.
Also compromised:
Donald Trump.
JD Vance.
US Congressional intelligence committees.
This is not a rumor.
The Telegraph broke it yesterday.
The US Treasury sanctioned the Chinese companies responsible.
13 nations issued a joint advisory.
But here's the part that should terrify you:
Western governments BUILT the backdoors China walked through.
They are called "lawful intercept" systems.
Every phone carrier is required by law to include them.
"So we can wiretap criminals," they said.
China found them. Used them. For years.
They didn't just read messages.
They accessed the FBI's database of active wiretaps.
They could see which Chinese spies America was watching.
And warn them.
The surveillance state got surveilled.
US officials now admit:
"We cannot say with certainty the hackers have been evicted."
Some networks compromised for 3+ years.
The malware lives in the hardware itself.
It can't be patched.
It has to be physically replaced.
This is the biggest Western intelligence breach since the Cold War.
And most people have no idea it happened.
Now you do.
