Scrolling through X for the last few hours, I keep seeing the same questions: Medicine here vs Medicine there? , Radiology in this institute or that one?, Orthopaedics near home or Medicine far away? What worries me is what I’m not seeing. Almost nobody is talking about Anatomy, Physiology or Biochemistry. Very few aspirants seriously discuss Pathology, Microbiology or Community Medicine. Even among good rank holders, Surgery seems to be losing attraction. This should concern the entire medical system including NMC and @MoHFW_INDIA Who will teach the next generation of medical students if our best graduates systematically avoid the basic sciences? Who will provide high-quality diagnostic pathology and microbiology if these specialties remain career afterthoughts? And Surgery deserves particular attention. Surgery requires years of supervised training, judgment, dexterity and enormous case exposure. AI may assist diagnosis and planning, but it cannot replace expert operative hands. Look at highly specialised fields such as retinal surgery - the margin for error can be extraordinarily small. Would you prefer your family member to be operated on by someone who entered Surgery only because they could not get Radiology or Medicine - or by someone who genuinely wanted Surgery, trained for it with passion, and strives to perform it at the highest level? That question alone should make us think seriously about how our specialty-selection system is structured. Our PG counselling system also creates a strange situation where rank often determines access to a specialty, while aptitude for that specialty may barely be assessed. Medicine cannot function as “physicians + radiologists” alone. Physicians need pathologists and microbiologists to tell them what disease they are treating, what organism is responsible, what molecular alteration is present, and sometimes which therapy is likely to work. Medical colleges need anatomists, physiologists and biochemists to train tomorrow’s doctors. The solution is not telling students, “Choose less popular branches.” The system has to make these specialties worth choosing. That means major reforms in: • Working hours and residency conditions • Pay and financial parity • Faculty career progression • Diagnostic infrastructure • Private-sector opportunities • Research funding • Academic incentives • Public and professional perception • Specialty-specific training quality • And perhaps even how aptitude and specialty allocation are approached If year after year talented graduates overwhelmingly chase only two or three specialties, we shouldn’t blame the graduates. We should ask what incentives the healthcare system has created. This needs reform at a very large scale.

-The daughter becomes PM when the father dies. -The son becomes the PM when the daughter dies. -When the son dies, forcibly, the daughter-in-law is tried to make a PM. -Mother gives the party president chair to her son. -Brother makes a secretary to sister. When the country was partitioned, Nehru was not removed. When Emergency was taken, Indira was not removed. Thousands of Sikhs were k!lled, Rajiv was not removed. Lots of scams, Manmohan Singh was not removed. But in 5 years, there was not even a single scam, yet, they shouted ‘Stop Modi’. Modiji does not even have a single day of experience of sitting in the opposition, we can not put democracy in danger by sitting in the opposition with such inexperienced people. So, Indians feel proud and glad for making PM of Narendra Modi as a third term instead of sitting them in opposition in parliament.

I always thought Rahul Gandhi was incompetent. Today he demonstrated something uglier: a breathtaking absence of class. Mock Modi all you want. Attack his policies, his politics, his foreign policy, mercilessly, if you can make the argument. But dragging Giorgia Meloni into a juvenile innuendo and laughing along reduces the Prime Minister of Italy from a serious elected leader to a prop in a cheap boys’ joke. That isn’t wit. It isn’t political satire. And it certainly isn’t statesmanship. The most revealing thing about such jokes is not what they say about Modi or Meloni. It is what they reveal about the men making them, their instinctive attitude towards women, their intellectual shallowness and the level to which they are willing to drag political discourse for a few laughs. India deserves an opposition capable of intellectually dismantling the government when it gets things wrong. Instead, its Leader of Opposition stands on a stage laughing at schoolboy innuendo involving the female Prime Minister of a friendly country. You cannot manufacture class. Today made that painfully obvious.

I learned about the Indian caste system, after I got to know what reservation is. This is a personal story. In 12 years of my schooling, my parents always taught me to treat everyone with equal respect, with no discrimination. In Standard 12th, while filling the IIT-JEE form, I asked my dad about the category section. He told me to tick general. I didn't even know which category of caste I was in. That was the extent of my knowledge on the Indian caste system then. I got a good AIR, and I secured my admission in IIT Madras in Mechanical Engineering. Upon reaching the college, we were allotted our rooms. The room was double occupancy, so I got a roommate. I won't tell his name, because people find caste in names. The very first exam we had was in a Mathematics course. I passed with flying colors, but he failed. In the evening when I saw him, I asked him to show me his paper. Even some basic differential equation and number systems questions, he had answered wrong. I was honestly surprised. I asked him, bro, how can you get these wrong. These type of questions, we even had in our JEE paper. He just deflected my question. But, in a few days time, I sensed something was wrong. Because he failed even the Engineering Physics exam (which also had many JEE level questions). Out of concern, one day I asked him, why is he failing these basic exams. 60-70% were JEE level questions. He should be able to at least answer that. And then he told me his JEE marks on which he secured the admission. I was surprised, and taken aback. You see, those days, cut off marks was not declared publicly. And when he told me his marks, there was a significant difference. My first reaction was that it's not fair. Why is he allowed to come to IIT Madras on his low marks while I studied way harder to secure my seat. My second reaction was disappointment when he told me his dad was a IPS officer, and he too secured it basis reservation. I will be honest. I actually did not speak to him for a few days. But after 7-8 days, I told him that it's very disrespectful to what he is doing with the opportunity he has got. He should focus on studying and not waste it. Imagine a student who got in even though he was complacent with his studies. He even had a fair starting line, resource and money to prepare for the exam (unlike poor students). Honestly, once his dad availed the benefit, he shouldn't have. But, he did. Nothing against him. He didn't do anything illegal. But it's a flaw in the system. After some time, we became good friends. I constantly tried to help him in studies, but he couldn't grasp many things. Some other seniors also tried to help him with how and what to study, but it didn't help him either. He got a year back, then another year back and then he dropped out. I realized how reservation has both merits and demerits. On one hand, it allows the underprivileged students to get a fair starting line. That's affirmative action. I believe that is required. But, along with that, some preparatory courses are also required. Reservations don't apply to college internal exams. What's the point of affirmative action if a person can't cope up with the internal exams? On the other hand, I realized how many students, even if they had a fair starting line, utilize reservation to get into prestigious colleges, with much lesser hard work. Honestly, they don't deserve that seat. That seat belongs to a meritorious student. If one person has availed reservation, and uplifted himself or herself, reservation to his/her next generation should cease to exist. And that's why I believe in the below three:- 1. One Nation, One Cutoff 2. One Generation, One Reservation 3. Fair Exams. Fair Starting Line If the concept of reservation is tweaked with the above ethos, it will ensure both the things - fairness to all students, and affirmative action where it is required due to limited access to resources and opportunities. #reservationhataomovment #EndReservationNow

I frankly dont care for this nautanki. Please sit peacefully at Jantar Mantar and keep protesting but if u take to streets in a bid overrun parliament then be ready to face the music at the hand of security forces. For one month you protested peacefully, Govt gave u space at Jantar Mantar. In meanwhile RE-NEET was done and results were declared. You could have continued protesting but no you wanted to create Nepal and remove Modi then face the music. But then CJP tried to make it political by making Arundhati Roy, Yogendra Yadav, AAP & leftist unions like AISA to take over for march to parliament. If you want to get into political activism and become tools for leftists communists then should be ready for consequences. Accountability in democracy is fixed by Courts or through elections. You cant aim to achieved the goal of overthrowing elected government of India by a violent insurrection in name of student causes. No sympathies for anyone as we the people have seen playbook of activism many times in past few years. Please stop blocking roads & highways they are made for law abiding citizens who want to work and earn for themselves. We dont want our livelihoods to be disrupted for your misplaced political activism.

Two days ago, a video circulated on social media showing doodh-daatas in Maharashtra spilling their milk after a rumor of an FDA raid spread. I wondered what they could have adulterated the milk with to make them get rid of it in such a panic over a mere rumor. I initially thought it might just be water or milk powder, but there had to be more to it. Yesterday, the Maharashtra FDA uncovered a massive synthetic milk racket, with an estimated 2.3 crore liters of fake milk manufactured using detergent powder and chemicals like sodium bicarbonate. By now, you probably have a clear idea of how much these ann-daatas, doodh-daatas, and fal-sabzi-daatas truly care about your health. That's why it's our responsibility to support every policy made that apparently benefits these daatas, even if it means putting ethanol in your non-compliant car. Don't complain. Just do it. Long live daatas.

It was the middle of the night, at about 1.30am, when Norway lost to England. Yet thousands of Norwegians went to the Palace in Oslo and celebrated with one final Viking row. They did not riot. They did not burn cars. They did not smash bus stops or glass windows of shops. They smiled. The laughed. They saw the positive in their performance. They celebrated their heritage. They were proud of who they have been in the past and who they are today. Norway might be out of the World Cup 2026 but they are in our hearts. In the last three weeks, I think we have all fallen a little bit in love with Norwegians.

Indian-origin Rushabh Patel gave his life saving two strangers in the UK. 28-year-old Rushabh was enjoying a picnic with his wife Mili and 18-month-old daughter Vrumi when he saw two people struggling in the water near Milton Keynes. Without hesitation, he jumped in to save them. Rushabh suffered a cardiac arrest during the rescue and tragically passed away days later. Even in death, he saved 5 more lives through organ donation. Yet don't expect this story to dominate global headlines. Acts of extraordinary courage by Indians rarely receive the same attention that anti-India narratives do.
