Honoured to be part of the Opening Ceremony of the 47th World Armwrestling Championship and the 28th World Para Armwrestling Championship in Delhi from 29th October to 6th November 2026.
Bharat is hosting athletes from over 60 countries, nearly 1,400 competitors, including around 400 para athletes and 250 Indian sportspersons. For many, this is the biggest stage of their careers.
My best wishes to the People’s Armwrestling Federation India, the organisers, all participating nations and every athlete. May this championship showcase true sportsmanship, strength and inclusion. 🇮🇳💪

#WATCH | Delhi | On 47th World Armwrestling Championship, BJP MP Anurag Thakur says, "... It is a great privilege for India to host such a significant event. Athletes from 60 countries—1,400 in total—are participating. This serves as an excellent opportunity to showcase the promotion of sports in India. We are set to host the Commonwealth Games in 2030 and are preparing a bid for the 2036 Olympic Games. Hosting such major events, one after another, boosts the morale of our nation's athletes. For instance, nearly 250 Indian athletes are participating here, alongside large contingents from many other countries. This sends a clear message that India is actively promoting sports..."
On the INDIA bloc's November 1 rally, he says, "The Congress faced a crushing defeat in the MLC elections. Through the use of ballot papers, the people of the country have clearly demonstrated that they have rejected the Congress and the opposition. Even in our home state of Himachal Pradesh, the Congress suffered a massive defeat in the local body and Panchayati Raj elections... Whether the voting was conducted via EVMs or ballot papers—the opposition has faced defeat everywhere. Yet, every single time, they manage to find someone to blame: sometimes it’s the EVMs, at other times it’s the ECI or the Chief Election Commissioner..."

🇿🇦 This South African dad turned a carjacking into the worst day of the gang's lives
His car got boxed in right outside his home, one guy put a gun to his son's head at the gate and another started shooting at him.
So he pulled his own gun and fired straight back from the driver's seat.
All 3 attackers reportedly ended up dead.
Wrong family, wrong dad, wrong day.
Somebody give this man a medal.

Rioters in Milan are finding out real quick that Italy doesn't play! 🇮🇹
Police deployed water cannons and knocked violent agitators flat on their backs in seconds.
Zero tolerance for lawlessness and the destruction of cities. This is how you take back control! 🇮🇹🇺🇸🚨

Have you noticed the not-so-subtle difference?
This is a Reuters image of protests in France. Most of the western media reportage on French protests focus exclusively and overwhelmingly on brutality, destruction and anarchy of the protestors, portraying them as out of control monsters.
In contrast, most of the visual reportage of protests in India focus exclusively on police action on violent protestors. Rarely would you find images of destruction, though these were widely noted.
This isn't a coincidence. The lens is revealing. The visual imagery creates two narratives. One, protests in West are "evil". Protests in India are "against evil".
Angry Italian gay man erupts in fury and lashes out at migrants who vandalized and looted Milan

A French woman says that the rioters and looters broke into her building and threatened her with rape while she was holding her child in her arms.
“That’s collateral damage” responds the feminist activist Bettina Zourli who holds a Master’s in gender studies and focuses her work on gender norms, motherhood, reproductive rights, and voluntary childlessness (“childfree”)
She describes herself as “feminist, childfree and Antifa”
Zourli also says that all the stores getting looted also constitute a case of collateral damage and that the revolution, which she supports, must be violent.
She has lectured in gender studies, including at the University of Lille and Université Rennes.
