A24’s true superpower has always been its mastery of the mid-budget film. An Elden Ring adaptation with a staggering $200 million budget marks a seismic shift for the indie darling. This astronomical budget is an incredibly risky gamble for a studio built on creative freedom. A24 is playing a high-stakes game where a single misstep could jeopardize the financial stability that funds their entire ecosystem.

Pushing Michael Mann’s Heat 2 shoot to January 2027 is a prime example of modern-day Hollywood logistics. No one is to blame.
