We could fix this without raising taxes if it was done in a better way. But they’re looking at it just to put themselves in a position for tax increases because, I think, that’s all this administration talks about is raising taxes. ow.ly/bJIu50w2ShW

We can save $1.7B a year for property taxpayers – $500 a year for the average residential homeowner – with the @Path2ProgressNJ reforms. It’s a plan that properly balances the needs of taxpayers with our obligations to public employees & retirees. ow.ly/Udhx50vWxOb

In 2017 the SHBP adopted certain cost saving measures which the SEHBP did not. Among other things, the reforms have helped the SHBP premiums stabilize, while School Employee premiums continue to rise, costing employees and the state more and more each year.

In addition, public employers would be required to offer “bronze” plans to employees with zero premium payments. While this would reduced coverage, it would offer public employees an option to have health insurance without recurring deductions from their paychecks.
