NICU at Jubilee needs more staff, more ventilators, portable X-ray machine, flexible endoscopes. And to implement PAHO recommendations to reduce neonatal mortality. This story can’t just go away.
We still don’t know what was missing. Was it ventilators? Was it medication? Was it trained staff? What we do know is that 24 babies died, & those deaths may have been prevented if the hospital was prepared. This is more than a health crisis. It is a moral and leadership crisis.
