Political ad spending for the 2026 election cycle has just surpassed the entire 2024 presidential election total.
$11.21 billion spent and reserved so far (vs. $11.20B in 2024), with about a week still left before #ElectionDay.
Political advertising is big business, folks.

Grateful to support the Latin Chamber Golf Tournament and Asian Community Development Council’s Lantern Festival this weekend in Las Vegas with the @StrategiesTri team and clients. The @LVLCC tournament funds student scholarships, and the @ACDCN festival showcases culture, food, music, and local businesses. These extremely well-organized events were a fun celebration of Nevada community. Great people, great times. Wheels up 🛫 to Reno.
Speaking of new logos, I ask my @unevadareno @unrpolisci students to design their own candidate logo if they were to run for office. Check out this semester’s batch. UofN is preparing the next generation of political leaders. #Paulitics
This semester's @UNrPoliSci students' logos showcase a vibrant, creative vision for their possible future political campaigns. They're not just learning how to campaign—they're designing it with style. #StudentDesign #CampaignsElections #Paulitics

For more than 150 years, the University of Nevada, Reno has grown and evolved to meet the demands of a changing world, driven by an unyielding belief in the power of education and what’s possible when we move forward together. Today, that legacy drives a learning and discovery environment where no one stands alone. Our roots are unmistakably Nevada, but our impact reaches far beyond it. Together, we’re building what’s next. Welcome to the University of Nevada, where world changers get to work.
Hey Reno, turn on the @WNBA Finals and watch Gabby Williams from Reed High leading the @Valkyries. Just last week, Ray Kerr from Hug High pitched for the @Braves in the @MLB playoffs. Two local kids competing at the highest level, making the #BiggestLittleCity proud!
Another great AdWest conference by the AAF Western Region. Fun to see LA, with its million influences and global brands, planning, building, and cleaning for the upcoming Olympic Games.

LOOK AT THIS GUY! 48-year-old defensive end playing for the San Jose City College Jaguars. He’s doing two-a-days and shoving sleds with 20-year-olds running on raw testosterone. Amazing and inspiring story. Maybe the Pack can use this idea. Who's ready to suit up?! abc7news.com/story/justin-bu…

Great election briefing this morning on digital creative for political campaigns. As a copywriter/designer, it is becoming obvious to me when work is AI-generated. I am noticing that ads look and sound more generic and unoriginal. AI is a convenient and efficient shortcut, but campaigns should still push for good creative, witty copy, and clean design. That work matters more than ever in a media environment defined by short attention spans.
Thank you @JoelSaklad of @New_BlueDC, Emily Karrs of @teamimge, & @KMaxGreenwood of @C_and_E for sharing your knowledge and leading an interesting session. #Paulitics
Attended an interesting session this morning on political advertising in live sports with @optimum__media's Donna Ra’anan-Lerner and Joel Sawyer.
I'm asked a lot about politics in sports. Here's the gist: Live sports give candidates highly engaged audiences across key voter demographics. Sports, in particular, indexes very high with the coveted independent voter bloc.
However, fans don’t like pushy politics while watching sports. Authenticity matters here. Controversy can be counterproductive. Campaigns do best with a message that connects with the broad viewing audience. As Donna and Joel said it best, sports is a unique place to build rapport and win.
Another fantastic session by @ShaneDAprile and @C_and_E. #Paulitics

With firefighters battling in the hills and police going door-to-door for evacuations, it was amazing to see volunteer teams across Reno step up to host hundreds of people, their families, and pets. The community never fails.
I want to share about one of those teams, the Red Cross Nor. Nevada crew. It’s a small group that works as hard and as long as needed. Last weekend, in just a few hours, the team unloaded trailers, assembled 500 cots, and stood up a shelter to host over 700 people.
I am proud and privileged to be part of this amazing team of volunteers who will just do the hard work, fight through struggle and exhaustion, even some who are older, for nothing more than to help those in need.
That’s a wrap on @NCSLorg 2026 — the National Conference of State Legislatures’ annual Legislative Summit, where state lawmakers from across the country gather to exchange policy ideas and tackle the key issues facing state governments. @StrategiesTri was thankful to be there and fellowship with legislators from around the country. – at Chicago, IL
At the National Conference of State Legislatures Summit, Oregon Speaker of the House Julie Fahey, Utah Speaker of the House Mike Schultz, Delaware Speaker of the House Melissa Minor-Brown, and Kentucky Speaker of the House David Osborne discuss the pressures and possibilities of leading a legislature.

When they signed the Declaration, they effectively put their lives on a British military target list. Incredible and righteous bravery in the name of freedom.
250 years later, we are the beneficiaries of those fearless few while we bicker over news headlines and sip caramel foam lattes.
We forget the courage it took to declare independence from the world’s most powerful monarch and then fight to the death to preserve it.
There is no other place like America, where people can protest and debate ideas about its institutions without being censored or jailed.
What a privilege it is to be an American. 🇺🇸
When I was a young copywriter working in advertising, David Droga was the Leo Messi of the industry. Everything he produced won @Cannes_Lions, and I obsessed over his work.
I met him in Denver and asked how I could create award-winning ads with production budgets that were a fraction of what the MadAve agencies had. Droga told me that good ideas are contagious and can be advertised on a 10-cent coaster. “Don’t let budget be a crutch for creativity,” he said.
That one line changed me. I would go on to win every major creative award in the industry before leaving advertising to work in politics.
Twenty years later, everyone is now using AI to produce ads. Droga’s response? “Let them. Originality can’t be duplicated. Most marketing, advertising, entertainment, music, and journalism is formulaic and average, so have at it,” @ddroga told @Semafor. “But distinctions, originality, strategy, context, and taste? AI can’t do that.”
He’s right again. AI will eat the market for mediocrity and force creatives to produce truly original work, and that’s an exciting future.

The @CityofReno Redevelopment Agency has been rebranded as Re:Up (Reno Redevelopment and Urban Placemaking). The agency drives Reno’s revitalization using tax increment financing, grants, and public space improvements. I’ve had the honor of serving and chairing the agency’s advisory board for over a year now. Check out the new Re:Up website at renoreup.com.
Update from the @CityofReno Redevelopment Agency Advisory Board (RAAB): In our six-seven months of existence, the RAAB has reviewed seven applications for Tax Increment Financing, as well as capital improvement projects, downtown plans, and RDA initiatives like ReStore and ReUp.
