Zia Yusuf has made an extraordinary series of public statements presenting alleged criminal conduct by ITV journalists as established fact, in an apparent attempt to intimidate and silence the free press. He does not say “Reform alleges that…” or “the journalists may have committed…”. He repeatedly states that criminal offences were committed by people who, as far as the public record shows, have not been charged or convicted of those offences. If these serious allegations cannot ultimately be substantiated, Yusuf could have exposed himself to significant civil liability, including a potentially serious defamation claim. Let’s take his five claims. “They forged a passport.” This is a serious criminal allegation, not an established fact. There is a potentially relevant offence under the Identity Documents Act 2010, but whether it was committed depends on precisely what document was created or altered, what the journalist knew and the statutory intention involved. Yusuf has converted an allegation about what happened to a document into a definitive declaration that a criminal offence was committed. That is a very different thing. “These crimes carry up to 10 years in prison.” This is pure rhetorical intimidation. A maximum sentence attached to an offence does not establish that the offence has occurred. “They committed a criminal offence by being paid to canvass” and “almost certainly altered the results.” This is where Yusuf’s argument becomes particularly misleading. These journalists were not paid by ITV to canvass for Reform. They were paid by ITV as undercover investigative journalists. Their participation in Reform campaign activity was part of maintaining their undercover identities. ITV did not employ them to promote Reform candidates, procure votes or act as Reform canvassers. Yusuf then claims they “almost certainly altered” election results, without producing evidence that they changed a single vote. That is a disputed interpretation of the law followed by an entirely unsupported claim about election outcomes. “They lied to a veteran and left him violated.” This is emotive rhetoric, not an identified criminal offence. Undercover journalism necessarily involves deception where revealing the journalist’s identity would defeat the investigation. Pretending otherwise is simply to misunderstand how undercover journalism works. “This is unprecedented.” It isn’t. British journalists have used false identities, covert recording and deception for decades to investigate corruption, criminality, racism and misconduct. These are established investigative techniques, subject to the law and broadcasting regulation, not some novel weapon invented to target Reform. A free press is not supposed to obtain permission from the political parties it investigates. Undercover journalism does not suddenly become criminal simply because the people being investigated object to what it uncovered. If you want to understand the danger of political parties with vast financial resources using litigation and legal threats to pressure the press, this is what it looks like. We have already seen Donald Trump use lawsuits and legal threats against major news organisations to prevent them exposing his conduct. Now Reform is threatening journalists with police action and “relentless” legal proceedings to silence them.

Cuts to inheritance tax, which only ~5% of the population pays, and free childcare for people on £100k+ all while cutting benefits etc is very much a policy platform to make the wealthy more wealthy and keep the poor poor. Politics for the wealthy/boomers and fuck the rest of us.
The next Conservative government will scrap Inheritance Tax on your family home.

And people STILL try and tell me I’m wrong when I say Reform is a racist party…. One of their MPs saying I’m not English not national TV…. Imagine how much shitter the England national side would be if squad selection used her rules of what being English is?
A total car crash for Suella Braverman on Question Time. Asked whether an English person has to be white, she couldn’t give an answer. After being dismantled by Julia Lopez earlier, she looked completely rattled. Reform is consumed by identity politics.

Hear me out: It might be reasonable to suggest that state ownership of football teams is a bad idea
FT exclusive: The Premier League football club’s Emirati chair, Khaldoon al-Mubarak, was granted immunity six years ago in a move that could complicate any legal action resulting from findings that it artificially inflated its finances by more than £900mn. ft.trib.al/eTmJM3f

They need expelling from the league, stripping of all titles (not even arsed about awarding to seconds etc, but they can’t stand with Man City), and owners & directors need lifetime bans from football. Cheating scumbags have effectively ruined over a decade of English football.

Today I have written to the head of the UK Football Policing Unit after its disgraceful attempt to link alcohol with the Hillsborough disaster following the Prime Minister’s call to ease restrictions at football matches. Alcohol did not cause Hillsborough. The behaviour of supporters did not cause or contribute to the disaster. These are the authoritative, factual conclusions of the inquests and the independent investigations. They are not matters of opinion. Thirty-seven years on, when will policing authorities finally accept the truth and stop perpetuating the lies and smears created in the aftermath of the disaster? Enough is enough. #JFT97

Some people will literally watch Farage be caught on camera involved in blatantly dodgy shit and insist there’s nothing to see here and it’s all just lefty mainstream media smears…
Nigel Farage and other senior members of Reform UK have been filmed by undercover reporters celebrating secret new foreign donations. Channel 4 News and @Verbatim_Media, a group of investigative journalists, can today reveal a plot to break the law on party funding at the highest levels of Reform UK. You can watch the full investigation here: youtu.be/aXut3s90rUI Channel 4 News approached Reform UK, Mr Farage, Mr Jukes and Mr Orr for comment on the findings of this investigation. They did not comment but we understand they deny the allegations in full.

So glad he was happy to call out the shite of Thatcherism that’s still screwing us over to this day like lack of affordable houses and spiralling water bills to pay shareholders etc, hope policy matches the rhetoric now and the country finally starts improving for everyday people

Logic of us dragging this out for months to save £10m only to probably lose champions league qualification by the time he’s match fit costing us £80m - genius decision making… Quality signing for the long term though!
🚨💣 BREAKING: Liverpool reach verbal agreement to sign Bradley Barcola, HERE WE GO! 🔴 Initial fee worth £100m plus add-ons — up to €140m possible total package for PSG. Documents to be exchanged in 24 hours. #LFC get their top target: never in doubt and now done.
