New: A deep dive into the big business of welfare and means testing. Deloitte has made a fortune on error-prone eligibility systems for programs like SNAP and Medicaid. We went to Arkansas and talked to folks struggling to get help in a system designed to break them.
NEW: The biggest welfare scam in the country is run by a consulting giant. Deloitte has made over $6 billion running error-prone eligibility systems that make it harder for Americans to get the healthcare and food aid they rely on. We investigated the big business of welfare.

It’s notable that Turek polling well behind Sand gets much less attention from the chattering class than AES polling behind Benson
New: Iowa Democrat Josh Turek is running a radical Senate campaign ... to the center - Opposes impeachment - Supports Laken Riley Act - Criticizes Dems for blocking Husted data center bill and farm bill - Ticks off all the ways he can work with Trump “Politically, the term moderate can be pejorative. And I say that I’m proudly a moderate," he says in an interview. His opponent, Rep. Ashley Hinson, says Turek is "going to be voting with Chuck Schumer 100% of the time." But she too is running toward the center, distancing herself from Trump on Iran, Russia and Vivek ad Turek: Hinson’s “masquerading. I mean that’s a problem for me. I’m genuinely a bipartisan person,” he added. “She has been partisan. … Just be who you are.” On the throwback race in Iowa, where “They expect us to represent Iowa interests and not just the interests of whoever’s president of the United States," according to Chuck Grassley --> semafor.com/article/10/25/20…

If you told me six months ago this would happen because everyone agreed *Ager* is going to win, I would have laughed in your face.

Abdul el Sayed is a horrible candidate. I hope he eeks out a win, but he shouldn’t need all of this help in a purple state in a blue wave year.

New rule? The Schumer rule?
It is quite possible that the new rule — the Schumer Rule? — will be that if one party has the majority, it will _never_ hold a hearing on a Supreme Court nominee from a president of the other party, no matter how much time remains until the next election. Democrats talk a lot about expanding the Supreme Court, but if, God forbid, there’s an unexpected vacancy in the next two years, they may well end up shrinking it temporarily.

NEW: public school choice may have a place in the policy toolbox, but what happens when choice just reshuffles familiar barriers to quality and access? I sit down with Princeton’s Jen Jennings, whose new book The Scarcity Loop explains it all.

The raw numbers of GOP 18-29 year olds voting are so low that it genuinely could be 20-30% groypers who are not voting for Republicans
Some of these partisan-turnout numbers among younger voters are nuts. In NC, 55,291 Dems (18-29yo) have voted; just 11,982 GOPers (18-29yo) have done so. In 2024, the two parties were almost even among 18-29 early voters. Does NCGOP expect those young GOPers to vote on E-Day?

There’s actual research showing that Muslim candidates suffer a far greater electoral penalty than people from almost any other group, and 45% of Michigan voters said they wouldn’t vote for one as president. Your blinders are on
If Rogers wins the MISEN in 9 days, the pundits and the DSA-lefties will point to Islamophobia, and Rogers HAS run an Islamophobic campaign. But AES is unpopular with a wide swath of voters because he's an immature, dislikable jerk. @murphymike has hit on this, and he likes AES!
