I've been listening to some dispensational podcasts as of late, and I keep bumping up against a problem. 🚦
According to a lot of dispensationalists, an interpreter holds to dispensationalism or "replacement theology."
I'm a covenant theologian but I don't hold to replacement theology. The church doesn't replace Israel.
The church is the CONTINUATION of true Israel in Christ. NT believers are joined to OT believers as the covenant community. That's not replacement.

When it comes to Revelation, Chesterton quipped, “Though St. John the Evangelist saw many strange monsters in his vision, he saw no creature so wild as one of his own commentators.”
Better: Revelation should be largely read and interpreted symbolically.

The “holy nation” to which Christians of every tongue and tribe belong, and the only Christian nation, is that purchased by the blood of Christ, rescued from corruption and eternal punishment by the grace of God, and conformed to the laws of this nation by the Holy Spirit.
Thank the Lord for Tom Nettles! Few people have encouraged me in my studies more than Dr. Nettles. Glad he taught me Baptist history and served on my dissertation committee.
