An aspect of participating in the FOSS ecosystem that I struggle with a lot is dealing with the excessive entitlement people who have barely commited anything to contribute to the commons and how they use it against the people doing the work.

I am going to start a podcast about Postgres extensions. Postgres extensions are not well understood, and I want to make them understandable by talking to the people who create them. Extensions are so valuable to me and to the broader community, and awareness deserves to be brought to the world. If you’re a Postgres extension creator, and you’re interested in doing an interview with me, reach out. – at South San Francisco, CA

We teach sorting in algorithms classes because it is a simple and easy to motivate EXAMPLE of different algorithms for accomplishing the same task. The solution isn't the point in the classroom. The problem is the point...

OSINT tip: One very good reason to get global entry is that you will get an email if it's revoked, and that's a really good way to find out if you are the subject of a criminal investigation. Don't ask me how I know this.

This framing of Quick Demotion makes a lot of sense to me. Generational GCs are a big win for a lot of workloads, and it makes sense that the same logic would apply to at least some cache access patterns.

This is something I keep noticing. Just because people say they would sign up if X feature/pricing was available doesn't mean they will. People telling you they want something is not validation.

By transaction volume I would not be surprised if it was 90% or more. Every Tier 1 service was mandated to move to #NoSQL during Rolling Stone and the vast majority chose DynamoDB. By number of services about 70% of ~10K services moved to Aurora MySQL or Postgres.

No roasting required. This is one of the best articles I’ve seen on the topic of where and how to employ DynamoDB.
You can end up doing a lot of extra, up-front work when using DynamoDB. I wrote up one of the adventures I had. I am half-expecting to get roasted for the technique I ended up using... #AWS #NoSQL #indiehackers

I have seen many reasonable concerns with the (first) draft of the updated Rust trademark policy (and have some myself too), but I also see some confusion about what trademark law does and doesn't cover. Blogging about Rust is fine. Naming your new language "Rust 2.0" is not. 1/5
