Hello! I’ve started a little newsletter about possibly my greatest passion, going to the carboot.
Kind of. It’s also about personal histories of clothing, treasuring and caring for secondhand items, and the thrill of the hunt. pemamonaghan.substack.com/p/…

We are heartbroken at the death of our beloved author, Dame Hilary Mantel, and our thoughts are with her friends and family, especially her husband, Gerald. This is a devastating loss and we can only be grateful she left us with such a magnificent body of work.

Highly recommend this brilliant new novel by @tseringylama, out now from @BloomsburyPub. Thanks to @hpeaks for commissioning me to review. Speculated that this is the first novel written in English by a Tibetan author published in over 20 years? Beware spoilers in the review 🌸

ALT Three photos lined up, the first, Kirstie Millar, is a pale person with short brown wavy hair, sitting in front of a Modigliani painting. The 2nd is a photograph of Charlotte Wetton taken by Steve Dearden. It's a black & white photo of Charlotte, who is also pale with short hair and glasses. The 3rd photo is of Andrea Davidson taken by Timo Van Havere. Andrea has short brown hair, pale skin & glasses & a blue shirt.
What do people do when they are stuck with their novel - ie, feeling and thinking nothing about it suddenly? I'm scared of pushing forward and rupturing the sense of mystery I have in the writing of it.
Anyone got any recs of good essays/studies on the Three Sisters motif? Particularly in global folklore/ but anything will be of use.

So desperate to read this debut by @tseringylama - @BloomsburyBooks give us a UK release! There are Tibetans here too, an audience hungry for stories about our lives. I don’t remember the last own stories novel about Tibetans published in English before this one and I’m thrilled.
In her debut novel, We Measure the Earth with Our Bodies, Tsering Yangzom Lama was interested in examining the toll of history on ordinary individuals. “I especially wanted to write about Tibetan women,” she told Q&Q. stjo.es/38ERsvJ
