I see a future in California where Pepperdine School of Public Policy leads the approach to California’s energy renaissance. Yesterday’s event “What’s the Matter with California” brought together the Golden State’s leading minds on energy, environment, and policy. Truly a great event!
An extraordinarily insightful day at @PepperdineSPP for the "What’s the Matter with California?" conference.
Experts shared their experience across key sectors, including housing, the economy, the energy industry, and political dynamics.
Thank you to all of our speakers and panelists for sharing your research and insights with us!

This week, we welcomed Roya Hakakian to @Pepperdine University to speak to our Middle East Studies students @PepperdineSPP. It was such a powerful and inspirational evening we will all remember.
Roya is an Iranian-born Jewish poet, journalist, and author who came to the United States as a refugee in 1985 and has written some of the most unflinching portraits of the Islamic Republic, in memoir and investigative nonfiction alike, including “Journey from the Land of No” and “Assassins of the Turquoise Palace.”
Thanks to generous donor support, we are proud to offer qualified students the life-changing opportunity to earn their Master’s degree in Middle East Policy—100% tuition-free for the third year in a row!
Applications are now open for Fall 2027!

I’m very pleased to join Pepperdine University’s School of Public Policy this semester as an Adjunct Professor. I am teaching Shia Politics in the Middle East Policy Studies graduate program, which is jointly run by @PepperdineSPP and @WashInstitute.
It is extremely rewarding to bring years of research and field experience on Shia politics, Iran, Lebanon, and Hezbollah into the classroom—and to have the opportunity to engage with the next generation of Middle East policy professionals.

“For such a time as this.”
From abolitionist Sojourner Truth to modern politicians, Americans have routinely drawn inspiration from the Book of Esther.
To celebrate Constitution Day, Rabbi Dr. @StuHalpern shared how themes of self-sacrifice, courage, and greater purpose continue to shape the American story.
“Over and over again, you see how Americans saw their story as purposely echoing the Purim story, the story of Esther, the story of ancient Israel.” - @StuHalpern
Today we welcomed a new cohort of Master of Middle East Policy Studies students in Washington, DC.
With our partners at the @WashInstitute, we are proud to prepare the next generation of American leaders to serve across sectors at the heart of Middle East policy and international security, both in the U.S. and around the world.
Welcome Class of 2028!

“Will we continue to steward the vision the founding generation passed down to us, or will we abandon ship?”
250 years into the American experiment, President Jim Gash makes the case in a new op-ed for @The Hill: American colleges should still teach patriotism.
Why?
Because we have a country whose principles are worth defending and instilling in the next generation.
