Unfortunately, both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party are retreating from economic liberty and embracing state economic control. reason.com/2026/10/28/the-mi…

People thrive when institutions align incentives properly, as free markets do.

Moral hazard in a nutshell. It's why policies like bailouts and debt forgiveness create bad incentives.

When government owns the means of production... isn't that socialism? Yes. Yes, it is.
The Trump administration now holds equity stakes in 40 private companies. And politicians on both sides of the aisle are planning to build on the precedent. Cato's @DeHavenTad explains why this is a bipartisan threat to free enterprise. #CatoRFE ow.ly/5ENz51015Gm

Some libertarians are talking about new starting a new party, the purpose of which is apparently to tell libertarians to vote Republican

If you’re calling a Nobel Prize winning economist “a midwit snake-oil salesman of the first order,” you might want to consider the possibility that you’re in the grip of ideological bias.
Hayek was a midwit snake-oil salesman of the first order. Put simply, the legally established negative liberty he champions permits the unequal ability of uncoerced individuals to achieve a very narrow and often unethically gained type of success in his ridiculously idealised 'market'. Then they monopolise market sectors and buy their way into power to exploit and coerce others. Result - the constant renewal and reproduction of the 1% revolving-door oligarchy. Tent cities getting bigger but GDP looks good and we've got AI! Hordes of unthinking wannabe strivers have been persuaded that this is the timeless moral and natural order of things.

Don't believe claims without evidence to back it. Especially from government politicians!
The White House Council of Economic Advisers claims illegal immigrants cost taxpayers $166,716 each. Cato's @David_J_Bier says those estimates aren't credible. They have actually reduced federal, state, and local deficits by $1.7 trillion over 30 years. ow.ly/kNi151015Zf

Poll after poll shows most people do NOT feel represented by either the Democrats or Republicans. If you are one of those people, vote like you mean it! Vote Libertarian!

Election Day is next week, and many voters are worried about playing “spoiler” or choosing the lesser of two evils. But not in Alaska, Maine, or the 14 cities and counties that will use ranked choice voting. Here’s how RCV is improving the 2026 midterms ⬇️

Wild.
“It’s not that liberals are more tolerant than conservatives, or vice versa. Liberal and conservative men are more or less equally tolerant, as are liberal and conservative women. It’s being a man, liberal or conservative, that makes the difference.”

Jonathan Miller is in custody and it appears no one was harmed. I hope he gets the necessary help he needs. Shame on those who made jokes.
I fucked up and talked to the negotiator on the phone long enough for them to box me in. They have dogs so I'm probably done for.

Exhibit A for why all of our public servants should be required to keep all of their assets in a blind trust.
FIRST ON CBS: As President Trump boasts about how much money the U.S. oil and gas industry is making from the war with Iran, the president's personal holdings in oil and gas are now worth between $22.5 million and $81.6 million, compared with $12.6 million to $46 million at the end of 2025, according to a new report by Democrats on the Congressional Joint Economic Committee. cbsn.ws/47IN9un
