AI agents are having a real moment right now. But here’s our test: can they help more people earn a better living?
Southeast Asia is home to some of the world’s smallest business owners. On top of serving customers, they’re finance, marketing and operations teams all-in-one. They don’t have business tools. Some are only just coming online. And many struggle to reach customers themselves.
Grab’s Merchant AI Assistant is an agent within the Grab Merchant app that recommends and executes business tasks on their behalf. Taking operational gruntwork – and guesswork – off their plates.
Restaurant merchants use it to update menus, run marketing campaigns, analyze financials, sales and orders. And they’re asking for more, from personalizing review replies to benchmarking competitors.
Their message is clear: understand my business. Help me grow my business. And help me get stuff done. We see this demand in the numbers. Merchant AI Assistant has driven a 15% boost in GMV for engaged users since we launched it in 2024.
The Philippines, Myanmar and Vietnam are some of our top markets driving adoption. Really cool to see how people are using AI to support their livelihoods in parts of the world far removed from Silicon Valley.
That’s how we see the bar for agents at Grab: turn convenience into greater economic freedom.

That is the moment everyone needs a car.
It is also the moment autonomous vehicles can help the least.

ICYMI from our update to investors last week - here's more on how we're thinking about the Financial Services opp for $GRAB. This is our fastest-growing segment. And we've only just begun to scale consumer lending.
1% of our 138 million annual transacting users borrow from Grab today. But with Atome, we can potentially serve 10X more...!
One more update from this big week at Grab! We’re expanding our Singapore AV fleet by 5X, to 50 vehicles, in the next 6 months. We’ve been collaborating with the Singapore government to finetune and expand our service in one of the city’s residential neighborhoods. And now, we’re planning to take our service beyond it.
12,000+ people have ridden our AVs, developed with @WeRide_ai , covering over 110,000 autonomous kilometres – that’s almost 70k miles. Over 1,000 people are on our waitlist for new AV experiences, including on-demand, point-to-point rides. Super excited to start serving them.
Southeast Asia is still early in its AV journey. But we’ve been quietly building our AV capabilities from the ground up for some time, starting with Singapore - harnessing our data advantage and hyperlocal insights to drive deployment and adoption. Plan is for the lessons we learn to guide us in deploying thousands more AVs across Southeast Asia by 2030.
What we’re betting on is a hybrid mobility world, with AVs and human drivers complementing each other as demand grows. And right now, we’re building a range of AV capabilities, from demand integration to fleet management, so we can shape the future of mobility for Southeast Asia. So much more to come. 🚗💨

Big milestone for Grab today. We’ve signed agreements to acquire a 60% controlling stake in Atome Financial, a leading pure-play consumer BNPL and digital lending platform in Southeast Asia. US$1.49bn all-cash transaction. Remaining 40% to be priced in two-years, based on Atome’s delivered performance.
Grab started our financial services journey so people could transact more safely in Southeast Asia. As our Mobility and Delivery services scaled, we gained deep insights on how people transact – enough to build an ecosystem-led lending business with a gross loan portfolio we expect to exceed $6bn by year end 2028.
Subject to deal close, Atome Financial will contribute to this growth. Atome Financial serves 25 million cumulative users across 5 markets and it is profitable. And has its own $1bn loan book.
For the second time in a year, we’re upgrading guidance to $1.7bn in Adjusted EBITDA and over 30% revenue CAGR. Also intend to complete around $900 million more in share buybacks in the next 12 months. Cumulative repurchases since 2024 add up to $1.75 billion representing over 10% of shares since 2024
Excited to accelerate our flywheel with Atome Financial, and keep expanding our FS roadmap.

What does it actually take to build a profitable #superapp? I sat down with @TIV_Podcast to talk about exactly that. Lots of ground covered about $GRAB’s business and one of my favourite conversations to date. youtube.com/watch?v=dbizFCFp… 🧵👇

We’ve been on the road again to meet with investors – and this time, to Europe and the UK, where the seasons are changing and festive spirit is kicking in.
Investors were also curious to hear how we’re building out our merchant solution suite. We’re always trying to find ways to help partners earn more with us, so we’ve been working hard to include dine-out, advertising and payments solutions as part of what we offer to merchants
Exciting news today. $GRAB has announced a minority investment in Vay – a provider of on-demand #car-rental services, enabled by remote driving technology. We’ll support Vay’s expansion in the U.S. and explore how their technology can complement our #autonomous solutions.
This investment is among several we’ve made in global companies shaping the #FutureOfMobility this year. We’re excited to explore remote-driven car rental as we build for a hybrid future.
