Pimping out our old Optical Time Domain Reflectometry experiment (90s vintage from Newport) for the UNSW Physics Higher Year Teaching Lab. So cool. Now more pimp than … 🤔 … not pimp?

Possibly my favourite student feedback comment of all time 🤣 … “Emanates the energy of a golden retriever while also being world weary so its hard to hate him. Always provides very useful feedback and genuinely shows care for his students.”

Does anyone remember when they made helium neon lasers in Queensland?! I certainly don’t. And check out that retro “Australian Made”logo with the boomerang. What a beauty! That puts it pre 1986, probably 1982. And it still works!! Now that’s proper quantum technology.

Nice little editorial piece from a 1974 issue of The Australian Physicist. If only they knew what the future held ... 🤯🤯🤯
