We just shipped our official ADBC driver, in partnership with @columnar_tech. clickhou.se/4gx3nwq One command installs a signed binary, and it speaks Apache Arrow natively, so results move from ClickHouse into your app with zero conversion. Ruby, R, and C get real ClickHouse access for the first time.

clickhouse/rowbinary is a Node.js reader and writer for ClickHouse's RowBinary format that doubles as an Agent Skill. Instead of calling the library as a black box, a coding agent can read it as a reference implementation and forks it into a parser specialized for your exact query schema. clickhou.se/4wD4JdB

Been hacking on the TypeScript compiler API to get a small but efficient type predicate generator. Should work in any current JS/TS dev environment and every runtime. It's just a code generator in the end 🙂peter-leonov.github.io/types…

Having some fun with unsafe pointers in Rust. Yes, it's pure joy now, as the pain will come later… in production 😅

…and my first SEGFAULT in years! How much I missed this feeling of being free from VM protection 😍
Six month later perseveringly continuing the Pico JS videos. This time it's just `eval(ast)` but spiced with exceptions (or just panics?) youtube.com/watch?v=8somwjHN…
Even the unsafe Rust is as safe a it can possibly be with all that nice null-checks and sweet mutability restrictions in place. This is the level of care I really appreciate while shooting myself in the foot!

To feel the real need for using a lifetime in Rust, try this sweet hard Exercism: exercism.io/tracks/rust/exer… The need for use of an explicitly specified lifetime hits you halfway through the task and invites to do some research and rethink the solution design a bit 😯🤯😌🦀
Self-hosted AS, wow!
The #AssemblyScript compiler compiled to #WebAssembly using the AssemblyScript compiler compiled to WebAssembly now produces the exact same binary as the AssemblyScript compiler compiled to WebAssembly using the AssemblyScript compiler compiled to #JavaScript. ☯️

JavaScript parser (magically) tells apart the whole variety of slashes: division, RegExp and comments. How? Let's implement just that: youtube.com/watch?v=THjv6Y7a…

The optimism of the early Internet has been scarified on the alter of corporate nihilism. The promise to “make the world a better place” has become a punchline about the futility of our craft.

Strange feeling when checking the asm code to see if the compiler understood my code well enough and then realising that it understood my code even better than I did myself.

Btw, this is something new to me because in JS it's not that easy to see what V8 is going to actually execute and why. In Rust it's way easier, esp. having the intermediate Rust mini language in-between normal Rust and assembler.

Btw, “Cinema for peace” accepts donations 😉
Why pilots don’t need fight to have enough sleep or to have their aircraft maintained? Why construction workers don’t need to fight for tools and bricks? Why doctors… you got it 😅
Engineers need to fight for a culture that allows for regular refactoring, cooldown work, and general maintenance in times when more information is known about the model we're developing for. dev.to/ben/the-myth-of-never…

IMO, it’s because they did in the past and their industries are way more mature in terms of systemic management than the (still) emerging IT sector.
