MN2-4 KMSS, "Dutch Crops" taken from the eastpass
60 dgr. max elv. so the signal was not strong because of the thermal noise comming from the houses it just flew over..
the good news is: Lime at 75 MSPS no sampledrops !
a next time i'll try 79 MSPS....west pass i hope :)
Congrats to our friend Cees, having received his 1st Elektro-L3 (LRIT) at 1691 Mhz, well done mate !!

ELEKTRO L3 (14.4° west) today at 13:30 UTC. 7500 Mhz RHCP. Signal strength about 10 dB S/N. (120 cm dish) Color image from Ch 1-2-3. IR from Ch 9. Other IR channels are mostly defective.
My first "capture" of Elektro L3, getting a poor 4.2 DB
RHCP at s-w NL i guess i will have to wait for a "jawflip"
possibly spring 2027, but we will see...
Fresh TLE's showing that Elektro-L3 is steady at 14.5 dgr. west, ready to replace L2
(by the end of this month/start of november it should start testing)
Storm "Austen" at 13:30 UTC captured by MN2-4,
we are close to it's eye now, rainy but hardly any wind..for now that is...
The storm moving towards the Dutch coast as seen by MN2-4 (LRPT) at 10:00 UTC, it's gonna be quite windy
over here soon i guess...

This exceptionally rare photograph was taken by an Airbus Plaiades satellite on 30 November 2024 over northern Texas. The Plaiades is itself photographing *another* satellite (Starlink?), sitting much lower in orbit.
The reason for the different colours is totally fascinating.
The Pleiades satellites record images in multiple spectral bands: blue, green, red, panchromatic, and near-infrared. It takes the photos a split-second apart and combines the colors to generate a representation of what the human eye would see.
That's fine for stationary objects like trees and buildings, but not so good when the subject is travelling around the Earth at five miles (eight km) per second!
I made a (lower resolution) MSS chn. 3,2,1 composite
from todays Kanopus V-IK capture,
the area appeared to be Kazan, Russia. thank's to @allo83914498 for letting me know !
(Googlemaps check)
Some quite spectacular imagery broadcasted today by Kanopus V-IK , maybe Fred could trace the location?
feel free to zoom in...
here's some MSS/PSS crops (12 mtr/px, 2.4 mtr/px)
more later on...
NOAA-21's eastpass, as much i could track from the back of my garden....
rain/clouds incomming from the south for NL this evening🌧️

After more than 15 years in orbit, @NOAA will be deorbiting the Suomi NPP satellite starting on Dec. 1, 2026. This will be done by gradually lowering its orbit before it reenters Earth’s atmosphere over the South Pacific Ocean.
Suomi NPP was a pathfinding mission to demonstrate the capabilities of NOAA's JPSS constellation. The data provided by Suomi NPP are now operationally delivered by NOAA-20 and NOAA-21.
