So my dryer stopped heating a while back. Looked at replacement costs and they want like 500 for a used dryer around here. F that, ordered a 25 dollar kit of thermostats, fuses, and a new heating element off Amazon. Tore that MF apart, probed around and found the thermal cutoff had blown and was reading open. Replaced that, along with the high limit thermostat just in case it was stuck open. Dryer heats again and will probably outlive me. They dont make em like they used too, this dryer is purely mechanical. Also, sheet metal is sharp, go figure. Don't be afraid to just fix your own stuff folks.

Also had to get real creative to reach some bolts, cause reasons. Power drill wouldnt reach one bolt on the lint chute to get it off and clean it. Adapters on adapters on adapters to reach it lol

Every local AI post lately. "Runs on a 16GB GPU!" and then you read the fine print and it's a 1-bit quant running off swap at 2 tokens a second with the IQ of a toaster. On my system I'd much rather run a mid-sized Qwen coder model or a clean MoE that actually responds fast and writes working code than flex parameter counts that take 5 minutes just to prefill a repo.
Here is our new quantization of a 3-trillion parameter model. Yes it runs on your 12GB GPU!!! (Disclaimer: Also requires 1TB of DDR50 RAM, a direct liquid nitrogen line from the local hospital, and a prayer to the tech gods. Side effects include 0.5 tokens per year and your motherboard physically melting.)

Im genuinely curious, for those that know me, what do you think my annual income is? Im really curious to see if other people's perception of me matches reality.

Well just dropped 214 dollars on Amazon. Ugh. Hate shopping there. Had to get the wife a new coat for winter, Kid is getting a new ski jacket, snow bibs, gloves, and baclava, and I got the dryer an all new heating element, thermostats, and fuses along with new plenum gaskets for the van and a single Bosch fuel injector. I hate giving bezos money, but there just really aren't places here that are remotely affordable to get it locally. Should hopefully be in late this week, so guess what I will be doing this weekend before it gets too cold. 🤣

Spent last night trying to get my phone number off people search sites because the scam calls are out of control. Two of them straight up said no because Michigan doesn't have a privacy law. Its my info. Half of it isn't even correct and they still won't take it down. If you're in Michigan, SB 359 has been sitting in the Senate since June 2025. Might be worth bugging your state senator about it

Too busy asking if we could, rather than if we should Still cool to see, but yeah, there is very little practical use for this, outside of the downdraft and suction to the road.
okay sure it looks really cool... but is it *practical* ??
