Dave Free first contacted Imani Imani from his burner account and she was skeptical until she heard his voice 😂
Imani Imani shares the artists who inspired her to explore her own sound
"I was inspired by women like Maria Mena and India.Arie because they had softer tones. I really liked Young Thug because he just did his own thing with his voice. Even in rap, I was inspired by rappers who did something different with their voices."
According to YAMS Magazine, PinkPantheress is high on her list, an artist she admires for creating music that feels youthtul and playful without sacrificing emotional depth.
"I really liked it 'cause it was my personal goal to be their first girl on there. I mostly like that we come from such different worlds, and that there's so much that we can learn from each other."

Imani Imani speaks on making music with Kendrick Lamar and being in the studio with him:
"When I was in the studio with him I would just watch, just be the audience and be like, 'Wow, I want to see how you work.' | would learn from that. Kendrick is the type of person, I think, who you don't have to be around him much, or have to talk to him a lot, to get his energy and be inspired by it. And that is something that's really special."

Baby Keem ranks #4 on Complex’s annual “Best Rappers in Their 20s” list
The rankings were based on:
◽️Music quality
◽️Chart success
◽️Influence on the rap scene
“Ca$ino felt like a true artistic evolution, as Keem traded much of the bouncy production and catchy hooks for an introspective account of his trauma.”

pgLang signed Imani Imani then give her time to develop her sound:
“I wasn’t ready to take the next step into releasing. I was still exploring my sound. So I told Dave, ‘I need time. I really enjoyed this conversation, but I don’t know how I can continue.’
And he was like, ‘No, we’re also taking our time. We’re also building our company right now.”
