The Night We Burned the Sky... (A Historical Tale)🧵🧵 "I still remember the night it began. The drums, the thunder, and the promise of freedom whispered in the dark. We gathered deep in the forest of Bois Caïman, thousands of us; tired, wounded, angry, but finally united. Boukman raised his voice and told us the truth we already felt in our bones: NO ONE WAS COMING TO SAVE US. WE HAVE TO SAVE OURSELVES. When the storm broke, we broke with it. By dawn, the plantations that had bled us dry were burning behind us, lighting the sky red. For the first time, the masters ran, and we did not. Then came Toussaint, calm, sharp, unstoppable. Under him, we became an army, not just a rebellion. We fought the Spanish, the British, and even the French themselves. Every battle was a message: WE ARE NOT SLAVES. WE'RE MEN. But our greatest trial came with Napoleon’s soldiers. They arrived like a steel wave, promising chains and death. They captured Toussaint by trickery, but even as he was taken away, he said: “In overthrowing me, you cut down the trunk of liberty. But it will grow again.” He was right. With Dessalines leading us, we vanished into the mountains, struck from the shadows, and let the island fight with us. Its heat, its forests, its fever. The French army crumbled, piece by piece, until nothing was left but surrender. And then, one morning in 1804, we stood on our own soil, free for the first time. I lived to see the impossible happen: a people once defeated, enslaved, rose up, defeated an empire, and claimed their destiny. Every time I close my eyes, I still see that first night, the drums, the fire, and the sky burning with freedom. And now we have a nation. The nation that our ancestors lived long before chains touched the land. And we called the nation; HAITI !!!". P.S: This is the story of Haitian Revolution told by one of the revolutionaries. Take your time and Reflect on the sentences in the capital letters.
There's a little story I'm going to tell. It's historical but a revolutionary story. You must read in between the lines of that story. Because it will help you understand our situation right now in the country and prepare you for whatever it is to come.

In Africa, and Nigeria especially, everywhere you go, there is a 'king'. There seems to be a new "kingdom" every 20,000 people and just 10 kilometers apart. 😂 If you don't believe me, just look at Ekiti or Ondo states. How happy do you think this made European slave traders? How much easier and more efficient do you think it made their business? "Divide and conquer"? There was no need to divide. The African package came almost completely pre-divided — ready to be conquered. Our divided kingdoms and kings were simply no match for European destructive cunning. It was the exact same global playbook of erasure that devoured the Aztecs, destroyed the Native Americans, and dismantled the Aborigines of Australia. While we were fiercely guarding our micro-borders of 20,000 people, we were completely blind to the fact that the Europeans didn't see individual kingdoms. They saw fragmented pieces of a global puzzle they already knew exactly how to solve. Do you think today's Europe did not have tribes and ethnic groups? Europe was a blood-soaked battleground between different groups for centuries. Tribes like the Iceni, Arverni, Salian Franks, Lusitanians, Arevaci, Vascones, and Caledonians were perennially at each other's throats. But their wars had a different, brutal flavour. Europeans possess a ruthless culture of expansion and total subsumption. They violently erased their own micro-identities to consolidate thousands of small, warring clans into a few massive, powerful nations. And when the need to conquer and colonize Africa arose, they took it a step further: they collapsed those powerful nations — fierce internal rivalries and all— into a unified cartel. Against such a purposeful, single-minded evolution of macro-identity and goal, Africa’s hyper-dividedness was a catastrophic weakness. We used them to defeat our neighbours, never realizing we were handing an unforgiving master the keys to our collective cage. Centuries later, we are still plagued by the exact same weakness. By continuing to obsess over our tribal identities, we inevitably exaggerate our differences to our collective detriment. If Europeans can bond to survive — tying their destinies inextricably together to fail or succeed together, to live or die together — how tragic is it that Africa still refuses to unite? Isn't it time to finally put down the micro-lens of the 'tribe' and pick up the macro-shield of continental unity? Don't we know that we have far more in common than otherwise? We must find what unites us, forge it into our core identity, and make it the ultimate springboard to rise, sovereign and unbreakable, on the global stage.
I'm very close to concluding that 'tribal' and 'ethnic' disparities in Nigeria, and Africa as a whole, have been inorganically exaggerated to our detriment. Our fixation on tribal and ethnic differences is our historic — and ongoing — Achilles heel. Do you think Europe doesn't/did not have tribes? I will share my thoughts after I don chop.

My whole problem with electoral democracy, aside from the fact that it doesn't work; it's way too expensive. The only reason why the U.S is still doing electoral democracy is because they're subsidizing its entire expenses from Africa and more of the global south.

Gaddafi understood that Africa was not poor. It had been impoverished by centuries of colonial exploitation, then offered a fraction of its stolen wealth in the name of aid. He challenged the very foundations of that injustice, demanding not charity, but the restoration of Africa’s wealth and sovereignty. Fifteen years after his martyrdom, his words still confront those who profited from Africa’s exploitation.

Sovereignty On Mortgage: Nigerian Expert Raises Alarm Over Bill Gates Funding Of Nutrition Bill Nigeria's nutrition space is currently the subject of an attempted hostile takeover sponsored by US billionaire Bill Gates. Speaking on News Central TV on Friday 23 October, 2026, Dr Segun Adebayo, Executive Director, Centre for African Policy Research and Advisory (CAfPRA) raised the alarm surrounding a contentious new bill backed by Gates, which has been smuggled through 2 readings at Nigeria's House of Representatives, with the final reading planned for Monday 26 October. Whereas legislative bills in Nigeria typically spend weeks or months going through their first, second and third readings before being submitted for presidential assent, this bill, which has the full backing of Gates' extensive institutional influence in Nigeria, was reportedly rushed through its first and second within a few hours of each other, with a planned timeline for passage before the end of October 2026. I don't understand the idea of weather sometimes. It's extremely cold during winter (to the point that you actually freeze to death) and it's extremely hot during summer ( to the point that your skin can literally burn) Why can't the weather just subsidise each other moderately?

Electoral democracy has never worked. Not even in the United States. Results are always determined long before the process of the election even begins. So no matter how prepared we think we're, we should also know that the results has already been determined. And it's not for us.
Let’s Talk About Electoral Democracy In Africa 2027 is another election year for some of Africa's most consequential countries, and once again many Africans are spitting fiery rhetoric about "protecting their vote" and ensuring that the leadership they want gets into office despite the expected shenanigans of the electoral authroties in their respective countries. In this commentary, Senior Reporter @Big_Mck asks a simple but important question: if the institution of electoral democracy, which is uspposed to give people the power to choose their own government consistently does the opposite, and must be forced using widespread physical violence to even pretend to do its job, then why exactly do so many Africans continue to reflexively defend the existence of this non-performing institution? Were Africans made to exist at the mercy of electoral democracy, or was electoral democracy made to exist at the mercy of Africans? Could it perhaps be time to ditch what is already known to not work, and try something that actually does what it says on the tin?
