Hey @CastroPodcasts I love the new actions bar for episodes and just thought it would be amazing to have some sort of multi select in list views to apply relevant actions to multiple episodes (see image). It could also work with multi drag&drop. Any related plans on your roadmap?
Hey @ArcMembership @browsercompany in @arcinternet Search as a first option I can set an updated app icon with dark background now but the actual icon on my home screen still has the former blue background. I would definitely prefer the darker version in dark mode on iOS 18 🙏

if you want to know where @browsercompany is heading then today's release gives you the clues
it includes my favorite feature that we've ever shipped (as tiny as it may seem at first glance)
as always, here's the backstory on why this "small" improvement is such a big deal...

New Browsertech Digest: my take-aways from @localfirstconf in Berlin.

Wow, just wow. @localfirstconf was a big success—I'm still reeling from the experience.
A few takeaways:
We had several demos of super-fast UIs. Each one was strangely shocking: we’re used to “fast” in non-game software meaning <200ms. @overtone_app, zerosync.dev, and of course @linear do paints on the next frame (at 60fps that’s <16ms). I can’t wait for a future where we can expect this from more software.
Seeing so many frameworks ( @jazz_tools, @dxos_org, @powersync_, ...) and end-user apps ( @AnytypeLabs, @GoodnotesApp, ...) describe their technical architectures made it clear there’s a lot of convergence on core patterns. In his opening talk, @martinkl suggested we might be ready for an IETF protocol standard for local-first sync in the next few years. I was skeptical at first but after seeing these similarities it feels within reach!
One of our goals for the conf was to bring together people who come to local-first from many different directions: technical, design, business, academic, and more. Some are focused on developer experience or saving money on their out-of-control cloud provider bills. Others care about privacy or long-term philosophical goals. But despite this variety, the community feels harmonious in shared values.
My favorite thing was talking to the "local-first curious" attendees, many of whom had only heard of the term recently. One of these compared the energy of this community to React circa 2013, which seems like a good signal.
Still plenty of unsolved problems including identity/auth, partial sync, data migrations, and economic model. But also seeing that lots of people in the community are making great progress in these areas. It’s a wide-open frontier!
Grateful for everyone who helped make this happen ❤️

Just finished up an intense but wonderful few days at @localfirstconf.
Did a new talk on why language models making software development faster, easier, and cheaper will create a golden age of home-cooked software & barefoot developers.

On my way to @localfirstconf and very excited about it 🚀

The secret sauce behind Daylight @daylightco is its proprietary display technology.
It’s not e-ink. They call it LivePaper.

Really excited to meet everyone in Berlin!
I’ll show a bit more of what I’ve been cooking and will offer some hands-on help to experiment & build cool shit with @jazz_tools 🔩🔧
In other news: we’ll also be at @localfirstconf in Berlin this week!
First, @anselm_io will talk about Succulent, a social media scheduling app we're building with Jazz.
It’ll show how every app wants to be local-first, even those that seem to defy it!

Web2 was built on Open Source. I created Homebrew, used by almost every web2 company… yet the most compensation I ever received was a (literal) “thank you for Homebrew” blanket from Google one cold winter.
PromiseKit, another project I created, was once used by over 100,000 apps including McDonalds—but I never even got so much as a Big Mac.
Open Source has a solvable sustainability problem. There’s a huge imbalance in those who gain from it versus those who build it. This imbalance could be both its problem and its solution.
The numbers work out: we don’t need much from every consumer of open source; we only need most of them to participate.
Which is why I’ve spent the last two years building @teaprotocol. At tea we strive to transform the perception of open source. Open Source is not charity; it’s fundamental and vital infrastructure that holds up the whole Internet and needs much needed intrinsic support.
With tea protocol both the creators and consumers are rewarded commensurate with the massive importance and value of open source.
