Image analysis. Most images do not longer come RAW from the microscope, but undergo processing or are used for quantifications. If you use image analysis workflows, explain your audiences which steps you took to reach a conclusion.

Image Annotations: FOR SURE: scale bars are a must. But also use annotations to convey important details, what is where, or: how thick is the stack I am seeing? Which plane am I seeing from a 3D volume? Or, for movies, what is the time-delta?

Image Colors and Channels: You will need to adjust brightness and contrast, but check out how; make sure all colors (and their annotations!) are visible to all audiences (best: show each channel as separate grayscale!), and if use color for quantities show us the color scale!

Image Format: We think the image should focus on the key data (even when that requires a crop), images should be clearly separated, and insets annoated. (the cute cell: designed by @Ulrike_Boehm based on the @CellProfiler icon!)

Within the @QuarepLimi initiative >50 scientists discussed and debated we believe are the **minimal** requirements for publishing images and image analysis results. Goal always: image data should be accessible and informative, and usable long-term.
