Cubs Legend: Robin Roberts
Born in Springfield, Illinois, the ballpark there where the inaugural WPBL season was held is named in his honor.
Cubs Legend: Kal Daniels
Dang, this dude could hit but had to retire at 28. One of those classic if-only-he-had-good-knees kinda stories.

Had a very cool #mailday a few weeks ago.
Check this out! Those are one of a kind, hand-painted versions of two of my favorite cards of all-time.
Shout out to the talented @ElSantosWorld for doing the work. Give him your money!
Long before I’d ever heard of a super collector, I thought I had a pretty sweet Don Mattingly oddball collection—still protected in sweet MVP pages.
I work in the Chicago Daily News building and an old upside down photo of some Cubs caught my eye.
Turns out, the final issue of the paper was published on March 4, 1978 and the sports section included this photo of Hack, Rajah, Kiki and Riggs.
Pretty cool for hallway decor.
Love this.

Always good SGAs, although I can't for the life of me remember if the one with the Topps 50 logo came autographed or if I got it autographed later. I still have the CLTV penny sleeve it came in from 6/27/01
If you dig team-issued baseball cards, I’m not sure anyone does it better than the Cubs.
(Just wish they would always issue the cards in standard size.)
Work had me near the Old Town School of Folk today, so of course I had to go check out their newly dedicated John Prine mural.
There were all these things that I don't think I remember…

Your Cards of the Day: Batting helmets were made mandatory in 1971. Active players who wore inserts in their caps were allowed to continue until retirement. Bob Montgomery was last to battle sans helmet in 1979. Norm Cash and Tony Taylor were the others grandfathered in.
Anagram edition.
Rodney Cline Carew is a legend among legends.
Can't afford his rookie, but a @wthballs '67 style makes it complete in my book.
Congrats to Janet Marie Smith, who was announced as the winner of SABR’s Dorothy Seymour Mills Award for 2026!
Doing a little sorting tonight (decided to include the autographed cards with the team sets, instead of separately).
Struck by this fun cross-section of the last 40 or so years of Cubs baseball.
When work has you in Joliet on a beautiful morning—of course you stop by to check out the new and improved Jesse Barfield statue.
The first Saturday without Cubs baseball for a while is a melancholy occasion.
But I sure had some fun along the way with family and friends AND I had the once-in-a-lifetime chance to operate the scoreboard during a game.
Don’t be sad it’s over, be happy for the memories made.

As the @whitesox once again capture baseball fans' attention with their exciting postseason run, it is the perfect time to celebrate one of the most important figures in franchise history: Dick Allen. Long before today's playoff excitement, Allen helped reinvigorate the White Sox, energized a fan base, and played a pivotal role in keeping the franchise rooted in Chicago.
His remarkable story is at the heart of My Father, Dick Allen, the acclaimed documentary series based on the 2022 book Chili Dog MVP: Dick Allen, The 1972 White Sox and a Transforming Chicago, by John Owens and me.
We are thrilled to bring @dickallen15film to Northwestern University for a special screening of Episodes 1 and 4. This event is more than a look back at baseball history. It celebrates an extraordinary athlete, a transformative moment for the White Sox, and a legacy that continues to inspire generations.
