This brings it all home, real fast. Real life. Real sacrifice. My heart breaks for them.
Staff Sgt. Michael Swinton's family, including his wife, gathered in grief Monday as they received his flag-draped casket at Fayetteville Regional Airport.
The 30-year-old Fort Bragg soldier was killed on July 19 while disposing of a downed Iranian drone in Iraq, and was honored with a water cannon salute before a procession to Hope Mills.
Swinton will be laid to rest following a funeral Saturday at Southview Baptist Church in North Carolina.

Best thing on social media today. By far.
Cool moment before the OU game. The kid who sang the national anthem started crying and couldn’t finish, the OU crowd helped him through it, and Coach Patty Gasso and the team were there to encourage him after. #Sooners

NEW: Tulsa, Oklahoma, has unveiled the state's first-ever "musical road" that plays "This Land is Your Land" when drivers drive over it.
The new feature can be experienced when drivers pass over the Southwest Boulevard Bridge.
The taxpayer price tag works out to about $5,800 per second of music, totaling $110,000.
Drivers are told to drive about 35 mph to get the proper experience.
The noise is produced by grooves in the pavement that create vibrations felt and heard in the car.
Cool.
Family - and all the memories we make with our families - are really everything. Don't miss this ad. Don't miss remembering all that we've had, and still have.

The Texas flag flies at half-staff at The Alamo.
Our hearts are with the families and communities of the Hill Country.
Today, our Texas flag flies at half-staff in memory of my Mom, a proud Texan, on her birthday.
Tomorrow through sunrise on Monday, it will fly at half-staff with thousands of other Texas flags to mourn and remember those lost in the Kerrville floods.
Hoping this hero receives the highest honor possible. Many did their jobs. He went above and beyond.
Coast Guard rescue swimmer Scott Ruskan saved 165 lives in the Texas flash floods.
The 26-year-old, a former KPMG accountant, directed Army Blackhawk 60s and MH-65s to survivors and helped get them to safety, according to the New York Post.
“Ruskan spearheaded a high-risk rescue mission under the worst possible environmental conditions, which in the end saw 165 brought to safety,” the NYP reported.
“I’m just doing a job,” he told the NYP.
“This is what I signed up for, and I think that any single Coast Guard rescue swimmer or any single Coast Guard pilot, flight mechanic, whoever it may be, would have done the exact same thing in our situation.”
“That’s what we were asked to do and we’re gonna do it. Any one of us, if anyone else was on duty that day, they would have done the same thing as us.”
“We just happened to be the crew that got the case.”
